Foxgloves the oj in the glass bottles from the milkman is the BEST. I can no longer buy it as I just guzzle it in one go and I am on a diet.

I hope you like the eco egg :). If you don't get on with it I buy washing powder in cardboard boxes from Mr T and it works out much cheaper than the liquid.

I'm not surprised there's a zero waste shop in Totnes as it's a very enviromentally conscious town. You should go there as I'm sure you'd like it.

I've been buying bars of soap for years now because they are much cheaper than liquid soap, but I can see now that I've been helping the environment too :).

Most of my purchasing is based on price, so I wouldn't have a mikman for that reason as the milk costs significantly more. But I always rinse and put my milk cartons in my recycling bin.

I will think harder about using less plastic. Things like bread wrappers can't be recycled so I'm not sure how to get around that.

I could use tin foil instead of cling film I suppose as my council will recycle tin foil, but you have to scrunch it into a ball I've been told otherwise it messes up the conveyor belt at the recycling centre.

That's what is going to make the difference for me Hairy as like you most of my purchases are based on price so I'm going to have to be careful with what I buy, luckily I'm only really buying for me because DD buys her own shopping and she is also on a plastic free mission :jit's so much cheaper when you are just shopping for yourself and not a large family,I wouldn't be able to afford it if both my girls were still at home and dependent on me

I haven't used clingfilm for months mainly because I kept forgetting to buy any then it occurred to me that I didn't actually need it,I use a reusable plastic sandwhich box for my sandwiches and if putting food in the fridge it either goes in one of the many lunch boxes I own or in a bowl with a plate on top,I'm going to keep using the plastic lunch boxes that I own already as it would be a waste to throw them out,but Ikea do sell lidded glass dishes for storing food in so I might invest in a few of those if I've got any spare cash at some point, they have wooden or silicone lids but I would go for the wood ones

Bread is another difficult one,I buy Warburtons bread at the moment that come in a wrapper that looks like wax paper,I'm not convinced it's environmentally friendly though so my options at the moment include baking my own bread:eek: or buying it from my local bakery and where it's in a paper bag, again this is slightly more expensive but as I'm only buying for me it's doable

Packaging drives me mad, there's so much of it. Have you tried the veggie boxes from Morrisons at £3.50 or better still the Lidl ones at £1.50, just a cardboard box no other wrapping.

I've just done my banking and had a nice surprise.....my monthly water payment has gone down from £64.50 to £39.50 :j I didn't know what my payment was going to be because I haven't had a water bill this year,I'm hoping this is my monthly payment for the rest of the year

All my major bills have gone out now and I just have to draw out the rest of the food money because I forgot to do it on Friday so have used my debit card

We went out to vote when we took the dog for her walk earlier,I really didn't want to go because I'm shattered but I made myself go in the end,I am going to get in bed soon for an early night but the flaming police helicopter is flying over my road for the third night in a row,I don't know what's going on out there but I've locked all my doors just in case:rotfl:

I've got work tomorrow so I'm hoping I sleep well tonight, last night lack of sleep has finally caught up with me I think

I'm just off to update my signature now because my SC payment has gone out as well :j

Bread wrappers can be recycled in supermarkets with the carrier bags, as can lots of plastic like dishwasher tablet bags, bubble wrap, magazine covers to name but a few. As long as it's not crinkly plastic, it should say on the back of the packet. Hope that helps.

I've only ever bought the Morrison's veg boxes online as I don't live near a store so I'm assuming you can get them in store. You can't choose what's in them sadly but they are very good value and wrapping free.

Hope you got a decent night's sleep in the end.
