Loving the idea of capsule wardrobe. I have been trying to do that for a while, but it hasn't quite worked yet. I get so frustrated when we go anywhere and I can't find anything nice to wear. Like you my normal wardrobe is skinny jeans and tops. I bought some straight jeans a while ago, trying to go for a different look and I hated them...so uncomfortable and made me look old I thought...lol I am usually cold, so like to go for layers on my tops. Its the summer I find hardest and I hate wearing skirts or shorts and then get too hot in jeans. Find a lot of the crop trousers don't seem to suit me...why is it all so hard?..:rotfl:DMP 2015 £57,549, now £36,112 (37% paid)

I know exactly what you mean, hopefully I will not be spending any time stuck in front of my wardrobe any more,I'm hoping the tops I've bought will wash well so they last a long time
Last year in the summer I still wore my jeans because I don't like getting my legs out,I did buy a skirt but never wore it becasue I had nothing to go with it,guess where that is going this week:rotfl: I also bought a summer dress in the sale for £2 but I never wore that either becasue I decided it was too short so that was another waste
I have lots of summer tops its autumn and winter that I struggle with,I might invest in a couple of pairs of cropped jeans in the summer but I will wait and see if we get weather like last year
I'm also making a one in one out rule so if I buy anything it's got to fit in with my current wardrobe and be versatile enough to warrent getting rid of an item I already ownOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1201 -
Yay,I now have two days off and have been so lazy already this morning,I didn't get up until 10.30:eek: I actually woke up at 7.30 but decided that my bed was too warm and snuggly to get out of so I went back to sleep:rotfl:
I have put on a load of washing, fed the animals and chucked out some recycling so far though
I'm just having a cup of tea before taking the dog out then it's time to crack on with today's jobs
I want to strip and wash my bedding so I can get to dry and back on my bed,I also have some ironing to do,DD did all the washing yesterday so that is all drying and should be able to be ironed and put away later
The big job today is clearing out my wardrobe :j:j:j
I'm going to get it all out and dump it on the bed then put back each item I want to keep, the rest will be bagged up and taken to the charity shop,I'm also going to go through the drawer where I keep my T-shirt's as there are quite a few in there that I don't wear,in fact thinking about what's in there I probably have about 15 T-shirt's and wear around five of them all the time, the others just take up room:eek:
DD did some decluttering in the kitchen yesterday so we have a couple of woks we don't use an old baking tray and a pile of miss matched unusable plastic lunch boxes to get rid of,this means that the containers she uses for her batch cooking will now fit in the cupboard instead of on top of the microwave:j there are some more bits in that cupboard that can be got rid of but she wasn't sure which ones so has left them for me to look at
This morning while I was in the kitchen I spied three vases behind the microwave that can also go,I don't like being given fresh flowers because I don't like it when they die so I so I don't need three vases,I would much rather flowers stayed in the ground they are growing in, most people that know me well don't buy me flowers because they know I don't like it:rotfl:
Right I need to take the dog out,she is sitting here with all her legs crossed with a desperate look on her face :eek:Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1201 -
Thats the wardrobe and drawer done,I have 58 items of clothing to get rid of tomorrow,it's left me with about 55 items which is possibly too much, the things that are left all go with my jeans and I also have two dresses and two nice going out tops to wear,I don't go out in the evening much anymore so that is plenty to for me,I'm now going to monitor what I actually wear the most and anything that doesn't get used regularly will also be got rid of,I think what's left is all going to be used though, this also allows for any unforeseen things such as my washing machine breaking down and not being able to do any washing for a few days for whatever reason
This clear out also means that my clothes all now fit on the nice non slip hangers I bought so all the old mismatched ones can be got rid of
I've also had a little tidy in the kitchen,so the vitamins I take are now in my room because I need to take them half an hour before food,so it makes sense for them to be upstairs where I can take them as soon as I wake up
I keep my tea, coffee and sugar in glass kilner jars but we both use Splenda instead of sugar,so the bit of sugar that was in that jar has gone and I've put the Splenda in that jar,so no more ugly yellow box on my worktop
My bedding is now washed and in the drier too,I'm just having a coffee before doing the ironingOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1201 -
Wow sounds like you have had a very productive day. :T Like the fact that you know exactly how many items of clothes you own. I should count mine, it might encourage me to get rid of a few more.;)DMP 2015 £57,549, now £36,112 (37% paid)

I have had a very busy day ,I'm really pleased I've done it now,I was very ruthless because normally if I did this I keep things for just in case but I haven't done that this time,if I haven't worn it in the last 6 months and I know I'm not going to wear it in the next six months it's gone
I have never counted my clothes before and I have to say that 55 still seems like too many to me,I can't get over the fact that I owned 113 items of clothing ,who has time to wear all that,I must add that this total doesn't include Pjs , they need a special section all of their own,I did clear out my pjs a couple of weeks ago though so I did wear the ones I have left which is about 10 pairs:eek:
I'm going to wear what I have left and then review it in 6 months time to see if there is anything else that can go or if I need to add anything,I must say that at this point I don't think I will need to add anything at allOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1201 -
Blimey you have a lot of pjs, I only have two pairs! You've done really well on the clothes decluttering front, well done. I think getting rid of the clothes you don't wear is a really good idea
.
I like the idea of a capsule wardrobe. Last year I read lots of articles and worked out what clothes suited my body shape and my colouring. I got rid of all the clothes that don't suit me. Now I only buy clothes in certain shapes that suit my body type. I also buy a few colours that I know suit me. This way all my clothes go together and everything gets worn.
I wear jeans, long sleeved tee shirts and jumpers in the winter. In the summer I wear cotton chinos (I don't like my legs either) with tee shirts. Because I limit the colours and shapes all my clothes get worn now.
I also have two dresses to wear to weddings, one black dress for funerals or very smart occasions and one more casual dress I can wear with thick tights and boots. I also have two more dressy tops for going out that can go with jeans or smarter trousers. I have some smarter trousers too for volunteering etc, but still in the limited colour range.
So my wardrobe is fairly limited in a way, but it all gets worn.

I read somewhere of putting your coat hangers in the wardrobe the wrong way round (so the book faces away from you) once you wear an item you put the cost hanger in the right way. You can then easily see what you haven't worn as the cost hanger is the wrong way round. Hope that makes sense
I also have a capsule wardrobe as graciously of my clothes for me

I'm aiming for the same thing as you with my wardrobe,I want to be able to wear everything with anything I own,so I will never be stuck for something to wear an will not be saying I can't wear a certain item because nothing goes with it,I think I've got it right now but still think I might be able to trim it down a bit but I will see how it goes over the next 6 monthsOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1201
