Just read the podcast post. I had never seen it like that before, but totally agree with it. We are encouraged to get one to help with our credit scores though. It is strange!
Sorry about the facial pain though. That sounds awful. Take it easy xxSeptember 2017 Debt = £25330

I take loads extra as I have Osteoporosis, but in the winter we need even more. The best ones are the yellow gel type capsules. I get mind from Natures Best and they are very good.

I'm not surpised DD is finding a no spend year difficult. I hate to say it but buying things always cheers me up. I try to cheer myself up in other ways but sometimes I desperately get the urge to spend. Which is why I use my survey money for my personal spends. DD may not be like me but it can be a bit miserable being super frugal over a long period of time and never treating yourself to anything. I think NSDs are more realistic and achievable and will still save a lot of money for DD over the year.
That was my thoughts exaclty Hairy,I would be devastated if it got worse
I don't usually go to a hairdressers to have my hair done so I'd never been there before and didn't like to say anything,my niece usually cuts my hair and she just sprays it with water becasue I wash it before I go
DD well and truely broke her no spend year vow today, she spent £70 on clothes:eek:,she did only buy three tops though and she does need clothes, most of the clothes she owns are years old and don't fit properly so she always feels horrible in them,so today she bought things that look nice, fit properly and will go with several pairs of trousers she already ownsOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1201 -
That sounds like a very sensible purchase of DD's, it's not good for her self esteem to wear clothes that she feel horrible in.Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Well today was a successful shopping trip,I bought myself 4 new tops and still have money left for something else, four might seem a lot but this is my rational
I've been reading about capsule wardrobes, you only own a set amount of clothes and you choose them so they can all be worn together in different outfits, you pick a style that suits you and you work with those clothes
I love this idea, taken to the extreme you could just buy 7 black t shirts and 7 pairs of blue jeans,I have mixed it up a bit and will also be keeping a couple of tops that I already own that fit with this plan
The idea is that you simplify your wardrobe so that you have less decisions about what to wear,it all mixes and matches so you can just change it around as you see fit but the basic wardrobe stays the same
I absolutely love this idea and want to adopt this way of dressing,I am known for buying the exact same tops and bottoms but just in different colours anyway,so this idea makes perfect sense to me
I have a wardrobe full of clothes that I don't wear because they either don't fit or I don't feel comfortable in them, so I am clearing out my wardrobe on Monday and probably getting rid of most of it
My aim today was to find some tops that I can just put on without having to wear a cardigan or jumper over the top or a vest top underneath,so the tops I have bought are all suitable to be worn on their own with no fuss
I only wear jeans I have 4 pairs of dark blue skinny jeans ,1 red pair and 1 green pair, all the tops I have bought today will go with all the trousers I already own
The 4 tops I bought today added to the 4 tops I'm intending to keep are enough to see me through the average week, when I'm working I spend 2.5 days in a uniform so this should be plenty
This is clothes to wear in the chillier weather, none of it is too thick and chunky because I get hot when I'm out and about and they will be warm enough for indoors without having to put a jumper on top,
I also have some tops I wear in the summer, again I wear these with jeans so I am going to go through them and pick out the ones that fit well and the rest will be going
I want to really streamline my wardrobe this year because I'm fed up of having lots of clothes but actually not having much I can actually wear
We also went for lunch which was really nice,we had a lovely chat and I really enjoyed spending time together today
I did resist buying stationary I don't need in the sale and a couple of books for myself,I did buy two books for DGS though as he seems to really like looking at them and they are educational books
I'm off to bed shortly because I have work tomorrow which is a shame but then I have Monday and Tuesday off:jOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1201 -
Your wardrobe shopping sounds impressively thought-out! I don't do a capsule wardrobe but when we went on holiday last year I really thought carefully about what to take with me and got together a very versatile selection of clothing that wasn't too difficult to transport. I'm still proud of myself
. It's great being able to pull a couple of items together without having to think too much.
I can understand your daughter's buying a selection of tops despite trying not to spend. As HH has said, there comes a point where it's necessary for self-esteem and besides, as she makes clothes last I think they will be more of an investment than an indulgence.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. It's a great feeling isn't it:beer:
I spend so much time standing in front of my wardrobe full of clothes trying to decide what to wear and despite it being full I quite often can't find anything,I tend to go for the same couple of tops all the time so I just thought it made sense to buy more of the same and then I don't have to make that decision,I can just grab it and go
DD is very careful about buying clothes, once she finds something she likes she will just wear it foreverOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1201 -
Well here I am up and ready for work only to realise I got up too early
I thought I heard my alarm and I woke up and looked at the clock and thought it said 6.25i am supposed to get up and 6.10 so I leapt outnof bed and into the shower,I then ran round like a maniac so I would be ready on time when all of a sudden I heard my alarm clock go off,I thought that's weird I'm sure I turned it off and why is it going off now,I went to turn it off and it was saying 6.10 so I checked the time on the tv and it was indeed 6.10,it must have been 5.25 when I woke up so I got up earlier than intended
The thing is I remember the alarm going off and leaning over and turning it off but I obviously hadn't so I must have been dreaming then woke up thinking it was real then leapt out of bed:eek:
It's quite funny but I'm also sad that I missed that extra time in bed this morning:rotfl:Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1201 -
Ha ha. That must have been so confusing when your real alarm went off!
Hopefully work will go quick for you.
