Spendy day again for me lemons, chocolate spread - having pancakes tomorrow instead of Tuesday.
Also booked in for eyebrow tidy up. No idea how much that will cost, some dye needed as few hairs snow white.:eek:
Mothernerd not sure I am brave I just tolerate a moody man.Why don't know? He does suffer from depression and is very shy meeting new people. I try to avoid seeing him sometimes as he can make me miserable. I really need an escape plan with a hunk but that's not happened yet.:(
Mothernerd quotes are funny and inspirational at the same time:)
My daughter made me laugh yesterday. She does dog walking for a living, drove to the beach and realized she had forgot the dogs:rotfl:

Today I am grateful for eating 3 frogs (still have a pondful to get through...!), for dd enjoying school, for getting a workout done, for the washing machine playing nicely at the mo, for buying our tickets to bham, for the tulip leaves poking through, for spotting our resident badger, for a good chat with big sis.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

Hi all :j
Sleep still good, will keep up the new regime..
Always : Will try to make sure I can make/save some money this month instead of always spending up to the max..No spends today
First : Agree
Organise : Made some leek & potato soup from stocks for lunch, then LO HM fishcakes for me & YS pizza for himself.
Reserve : Already make a charity donation each month from joint acc. Will also set up a DD for an animal one. Still to do
Environment : Sunny but cold day here today, outside into garden doing lots of pruning before it all gets out of hand. Pleased with progress there, not so pleased with flaking paint on top of low wall, only done last year. Now looks shabby & will need doing again :mad:
Stock take : Lunch & dinner all from fridges/freezer still haven't had to chuck anything as yet which I thought I would. Need to stocktake all other food stocks (kitchen cupboards, pantry, larder, cellar ) will start tomorrow. Keep saying this & not doing it...again!
Takeaways are forbidden (unless as part of family entertainment night/ birthday choice). Coffee shops, vending machines, works canteens etc are also banned (pastoral exceptions): Not planning on any takeaways, too much food here to need any.
Always take your lunch to work and snacks and drinks for outings or appointments: will do.
Do something different. If nothing changes, nothing changes. We want to see small positive changes which become habits and then just part of who you are. Pick 2 or 3 things you want to change. Start with one small change and after five successful days, add another: Surface still clear but still the only one!!
Valentine Who? : Card only for DH, already have. Got YS flowers yesterday, they look lovely & I can use them as my Valentines, no need to get any more..
Exercise 5 times a week please: Could well be gardening or clearing, cleaning etc but will aim to be active. Today it was gardening, wrestling with big branches I cut off trees & lots of brambles. Bonus was I unearthed dogs' ball which had landed in a giant yucca - he WILL be happy..
NSDs are staying at 18 this month: NSD today so now 3/18
Big push on this, much clearing needs to be done but refuse to toss useful stuff, will freecycle or CS - but preferably sell! Have photos ready to list now, will list this weekend.
Use what you have. Fix something : Have some knobs on drawers cupboard etc in bedroom that have come adrift. Need superglueing or I have already bought 4 new ones if not fixable. Not done yet. Maybe will need to buy more outside paint, the one I used was rubbish...
Refuel properly: Will do this, already am taking some steps to improve health & sleep patterns. Taking supplements now & bedtime tea, seems to be working. Tea combined with pillow spray etc got me to sleep, better food today & refrained from picking.
Elephants and Frogs: Frog printer tackled today & is now working, albeit intermittently. Elephant - sorted out some of DHs old polo shirts that will only be ragged at CS but that's fine, he won't wear them again as he found some that actually fitted him & never wears the old ones.
Frogs 3 phone calls, one to cancel hair appt next Weds (will save a packet), tree surgeon who will come over weekend to price for trimming our massive Black Poplar tree, which has a TPO on it - will cost a packet but necessary as it overhangs the road and call to gas engineers to sort out DDs boiler & fire...whew
apple muncher - hmm perhaps I am guilty of making my life sounds more exciting than it actually is...it would involve living in Eire in order to get residency, due to the Brexit changes although it all seems very up in the air atm...
dolly84 - again, perhaps calling it an attraction made you think of a major new something, but it was The Piece Hall in Halifax.
What a fantastic building & so little known..it has been restored & just reopened. My only gripe was that there was no yarn shop - as it was a wool merchants selling place, but there was no wool..as yet..
Thanks mothernerd for running the challenge, it is very much appreciated even though I am not a model turtle pupil yetNew start JAN15 - NOT BUYING IT 2015 :eek:. Good Morning Turtles!!
today is a spend day, lots of errands to run & things to do. still on my 2 spend days a week target though. :j
budget still 97 but I suspect it will be closer to 50 by the end of the day. :eek: hoping I can spend very little at the party tonight.
my lovely Mummy said last night she would pay spends for center parcs in August. August marks the end of childcare being so high ( it will still be 600 a month but not 1200) & so I intended to be a bit more relaxed anyway & have a few lunches in the cafes/ by the pool rather than always being a mum armed with a lunch box but this is very kind of her& the money I had intended to spend can go towards savings/ xmas.:money:
every tiny detail of our lives is currently in a strict budget, I am very much looking forward to things relaxing (slightly)
weigh in today- hoping the lettuce leaves pay off haha
hope you all have a relaxing Saturday!!0 -
sashanut - You must live pretty close to me, I am about 5 miles away from Halifax. I love the Piece Hall and they've done a fab job on the restoration but I do miss the cobbles. It would be nice to see all the units full but I imagine it is pricey for rent. We need more tourists, there is tons to do around here. I love to cycle through to Hebden Bridge, wander around the shops, go up Cragg Vale and then come back on the canal path.
Had planned to go for a walk with a picnic today but it is raining so we will see. Cycled yesterday, it was very windy which made the hills so hard but worth it for the legs. Hoping to not spend too much over the weekend but best laid plans and all.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Always pay to debts or savings first, live on what is left. - car & 0% CCs on direct debit. 'Regular' spending CC cards always paid off in full by start of month. Once kitchen/ workmen fully paid for this month we will know what (if any!) we have left and that can go to OH's 0% CC. Any extra monies will also go there - small amount of cashback claimed and added to kitchen fund at mo - as any excess is going to CC anyway
- should hopefully be paying for last of the kitchen (and bathroom) workmen bills within next 7-10 days and then I'll know exactly where we are :j
First of February until the 28th, inclusive.
Organise your budgets before the start of the month and stick to them.
* Food 114.66/450 -
* Diesel (me) - 0/65
* Toiletries - 0/10
* Clothing - 17.99/100 - OH bought some sports stuff
* Social - 0/50
* Half term - 0/75
* Money in - 3.40/50
Reserve a small portion of your budget (cash or goods) for the food bank or charity of your choice. - ok. Monthly DD to WWT. Should be attending a charity coffee morning next weekend and paid out 3.10 to school charity things. Also a small bag of toiletries to foodbank
Environment Be aware of your surroundings and use all your senses. Be alert to danger but also to beauty. -
Stock take your cupboards, fridge and freezer. Base your meal plan upon them and your shopping list on what is needed. Stick to your list. - desperately in need to top up supplies once kitchen is in! In the meantime we are shopping for little bits 'n pieces and eating stuff up from freezer
Takeaways are forbidden (unless as part of family entertainment night/ birthday choice). Coffee shops, vending machines, works canteens etc are also banned (pastoral exceptions). may have family takeaway as social if budget unspent elsewhere.
Always take your lunch to work and snacks and drinks for outings or appointments (may excuse one trip with children or allow ice creams etc if part of the experience). - have half term budget- will take lunches if applicable but something like ice creams may fall into budget here
Do something different. If nothing changes, nothing changes. We want to see small positive changes which become habits and then just part of who you are. Pick 2 or 3 things you want to change. Start with one small change and after five successful days, add another.
Valentine Who? after 30+ years together we don't really do Val now(although I may buy some of the flowers for myself afterwards if they have been reduced
Exercise 5 times a week please. It should be commensurate with your abilities and current state of health (be careful after flu/ viruses). Getting outside helps with mental health too. - 3 weeks into flu/ post flu chesty cough/ fatigue/ poor breathing. Not doing any cv exercise until much better. Feeling better each day, so should have some luck here after half term. Have done between 10 and 14k+ steps every day this week.
NSDs are staying at 18 this month. that is still 10 days available for necessary shopping. There would be far fewer opportunities in the forest. Exceptions for medical care, petrol (should be within budget), bus fares, ys bargains and milk for greent.3/18 -
Throw it away. We should all be aware that there is no such place as 'away' and recycle or donate appropriately but we all have too much stuff and even if you are ill, getting the rubbish and recycling helps slow the descent into chaos. - looking to remove 150 items this month - whether sell/ donate/ recycle/ bin - 12/150
Use what you have. Fix something (for free if possible). we need to update our house to do list this month - some jobs are being done as we have workmen in for the kitchen so are having them do some other bits whilst here (more cost efficient) My main focus is a big clean and tidy- lots of dust spread everywhere from the works - some small jobs now ticked off. Clean up is in progress.
Refuel properly. Feb is a month of re-charging for me
Elephants and Frogs. .Am sure I can find some frogs. An elephant I need to tackle is getting OH's co accounts for the year ready for the accountant

Apologies for the delay. My password had expired and needed changing, but I needed the old one to start with. It's a gobbledegook one so I had to find the little notebook that it was in. Will be back later with an update and some comments on your posts (I'm too sleepy to be hypercritical so don't worry).

Lots of that password stuff going on, lots of people have had issues with it, as well. Something to do with the hacking or whatever it was last week I wonder?0
