Paperwork picked up so more work on that needed now for next meeting. Decided getting some of the other stuff can wait till DH can go later in the week. The weather is still appalling.

Now looking at snuffle mats - if the dogs are going to have them, they'll have to be homemade, they are so expensive to buy. Of course, I wouldn't have though twice about buying them before, but with redundancy looming I'm getting very MSE again!
Spend less now, work less later.

Round.. I am fine about the child who swung pixie.. she is after all a child and they don't have the capacity to foresee a dangerous consequence and tbf pixie was probably laughing and being excited until she hit the concrete and it could have been so much worse.. but there was an adult present whose responsibility it was to keep the children safe and I feel it was her who was negligent.. an accident like that is not a split second thing.. she was clearly being swung around for a period before falling and it should have been stopped. The child is just a child and she was just doing what children do. I find when older children play with younger children they come down to the younger level not vice versa. I'm not a totally unreasonable monster lol.

As a general rule neither am I :D But reason goes out of the window where DS is concerned :o I remember being called in to school to pick up DS as he had been hit on the head by a hockey stick (Y7). Foul stroke but ok. We were half way home before he let slip that they weren't actually playing hockey at the time, but walking between sites for the next lesson. Slam on brakes, prepare to u-turn back to school, DS pleading 'No mum. It's ok. He's my friend!' Incredulous stare!!!! Calm down and drive home muttering 'just tell him if he 'friends' you again, I'll be round to 'friend' him!!!' I wouldn't. DS knows I wouldn't. Just part of screwed-up me :( (I have no idea how DS grew up to be so sane with me as the only live-in example :))

Anyhoo - flying: round 2 completed. (And I know darn well it wouldn't have been if I hadn't written on here that I was 'gonna'). I've reloaded the bowl with pots ready for Round 3, but I'm going to unload WM, set WM x 3 swishing and that's it for this morning.

    DW x 1 for now.

  • He's doing the washing up and there's a load going in the WM since I mentioned that I've been down the far side of the bed and retrieved everything to go over the linen bins on the landing.

    Sensible chap.

I have a bathroom floor to scrub, back later.

Had to look that up - it looks fun, and there are easy instructions on the www for diy. I might make one for Rosie too - she loves food-seeking games and is good at sniffing out the pieces of dried food that I sometimes hide around the LR.
It does them good to use their brains; to be honest, I can think of a few of my guests who would benefit from having a snuffle mat. ;)

OH scared me half to death.. he was over an hour late home and didn't answer his phone so obviously my anxiety said he was dead ... not a happy bunny by the time he did ring... but he is home now.
I remember that feeling well; when Mr LW was working, if he was 10 minutes late home, I'd be convinced he was lying in a wrecked car in a ditch, bleeding to death. :( I'm certain they just don't get how we worry about them.

Roundtuit I commend to you these words from Damh the Bard:

    "Far away would I fly
And I'll never look back to where I've been,
I never plan on being there again.
    And the world keeps turning,
So I guess I'll just fly on, and when I land,
I'll dust myself off and start again"

Appropriately, the song is called "Learning to Fly".

Bed has been stripped and bedlinen washed, Mr LW needs to put the fresh bedlinen on some time before midnight.

Bathroom about to be tackled - there may be an element of rage cleaning inolved.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
  • Bathroom sparkly clean and scrubbed half to death, including behind the loo and under the rim _pale_.

Idiot Cat is currently joyfully chewing on a tableleg in response to the lovely bleachy smell.

  • Thanks Honey Bear for your loo brush suggestion- have bought a new one and will do that from now on.

Flat is starting to look in a better state now, have cleaned the kitchen and done the bins and recycling and am about to do a load of laundry, a speedy tidy up and then dusting and hoovering. I am hoping I can get it back into a manageable state by the end of the day so I can do nothing tomorrow, except maybe grout cleaning. The advantage and disadvantage of a small place is that it gets messy so quickly but can be restored to normalcy relatively quickly...

My bathroom's all sparkly clean and scrubbed half to death, too. :T
I don't have an Idiot Cat though - just an Idiot DH. :rotfl: And if he starts chewing on table legs I'm going to be seriously concerned!:D

  • Cat bowls now soaked and decontaminated, replenished with essential supplies and given to the poor, starving felines.

Have discovered an unhappy looking cactus that had been knocked out of its pots by the Idiot Cat, gingerly retrieved it from under the kitchen table and given its monthly return to the pots and watering sparingly.

One surface is clear in the kitchen, the hob was sort of cleaned (how hard is it to continue until all the bits are off?) and the floor sort of swept.

I've cleared off the sofa, rearranged the blankets and cushions, which Idiot Cat is now curled up upon, got rid of various empty envelopes and junk mail and finally put my new work boots behind the front door so I remember to wear them on Monday.

Himself is apparently making some sort of Mexican food tonight - can't remember if he said burritos, enchiladas or fajitas - and didn't check whether he actually knows the differences between them, so it's something Mexicanish. Not looking forward to the remessing up of the kitchen before he's even looked at half of it, though. I expect I'll deal with the results either later tonight so I can come down to a clean kitchen in the morning, or I'll do it in the morning [strike]ready for him to mess it up again by dinnertime[/strike].

    The remaining plan is;

Finish last bit of washing up/wash up dinner things either tonight or tomorrow morning.
Put all the various packets and jars back in the sodding cupboards instead of the one decent sized countertop.
    Scrub the countertop.
Get the piles of crap he's dumped on my kitchen table off it.

    Tomorrow

Remove steps and start of more clutter put where DW used to be.
    Move fridge into gap
    Clear lifeforms out of fridge
    Clean appliances
Move freezer onto small, useless countertop

Wipe over bathroom #2 as his bath meant I couldn't do it earlier. This will include emptying the bin, adding his contact lens packets to the bin and

Vacuum stairs, landing and bedroom. Which will take a long time as it's not done often enough. Considering I used to use a Dyson Animal every single day when I came in from work when I lived in a flat, this isn't acceptable - once a week would be reasonable, once a month would be a start, but, as far as I can tell, he's vacuumed the studio and that's the first time he's touched the thing since before Christmas.
Direct him and a dustpan into the doorway of the studio where I can see he decided to clipper his hair before shaving.

Possibly do some sorting out of my clothes.

Make sure the kitchen is cleaned after dinner.

Why is this so difficult? It's taken the pair of us about 4 hours to get this far - if he did an hour a day out of the 41 I'm out of the house at work, it wouldn't be needing anything like this amount of work in one go.

Oh dear Jojo, you have all my sympathy! :( maybe the effort involved in cleaning today will convince him to keep on top of it more? *lives in hope*

I'm now done for the day - reached level 1 across all the rooms and it's not making me twitchy any more so that's good. Might consider cleaning the grout and the windows tomorrow...

Also bought a beeeyoootiful rotating spice rack which has sorted the clutter of spices on my surface and is making me very happy.
