In the process of securing a lunch out with a group of friends next month 😁 Can’t wait.Have had a quote back from the bloke who came on Saturday for the plastering/painting and it’s very reasonable. Just waiting for him to give a price to replace the kitchen tap as its started dripping again.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4

I think the difficult bit is looking after a person who thinks that they are ok, or ignores/forgets the limitations they have. You just keep having the same arguments or conversations over and over and how ever many ways to offer to solve problem you still have to come up with more, or work a way round it and it just never ends. Mum isn't that bad really but I fear for my sister's sanity and health, we don't visit and I don't know if she has any friends. It is all so unnatural. Ultimately it takes a village to do anything - living wise.
Always sending love SA. Day out soon ok. XXNevertheless she persisted.4 -
Sun_Addict said:I’d prefer a mooch around the shops and a nice lunch out to a spa day. I get bored in the less than an hour I’m in the hairdressers chair. Pre Covid I would often take myself off on the train to another city for a change of scenery and to get a break. In the past 5 years I’ve broken both legs (not at the same time) and have still had to cook, clean, etc. It would be very interesting indeed if, God forbid, anything worse happened and I really couldn’t do anything. I suppose adult social care would have to provide a carer for him, he’s still on their radar.Sealed pot challenge 822

I think going into the office for a day a week or a spa day/lunch with a friend or whatever is a good idea and necessary for your mental health. I would be telling Mr SA in no uncertain terms that no doubt the accidents if not caused by the beer wont be helping and you will be cutting back. How dare he tell you to shut up when you do so much for him. It might not do any harm to remind him you are not tied to him and if you decide you have had enough of the way he takes you for granted he really would be in trouble.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. It must be so frustrating at times for you.
Hope today is a better day for you.
I'm not with you on this heat though. I really don't like it. I used to love sitting out in the sun but these last few years I just can't bear it and try to get out of it as much as possible. Mr RS has never been a sun lover. His skin burns at the mere mention of the sun5 -
You really are one amazing lady to do so much for so little
Mr SA is all self-interest it seems. I am sure a lot of his behaviour can be forgiven but not all - and that part is very unfair.
Please please carve out that time for yourself and make it regular no matter what the objections. You need and deserve it very much.
I don't do heat either - I am a melting limp rag most of the time.6 -
The trouble with Mr SA is that he enjoyed all the fuss and attention lavished on him when he was ill. He forgets that was 8 years ago now, time he moved on. I’m not going to let him rile me today.Almost the weekend again 🥳
Have more or less arranged the lunch with friends, just waiting for final agreement to the date then will book the day off work. I’m going to have my mooch around the city centre first then meet them for lunch. Really looking forward to it.The quote has come in at £865, that’s to replaster the spare room, paint it afterwards, paint the kitchen walls and ceiling and replace the kitchen sink mixer tap. Materials included. I think that’s a decent quote so have asked him to book it in. It’s good he does the whole lot himself rather than have to get separate tradesmen in.Have been to Aldi this morning to finish off the weekly shop. Mr SA came to pick up the bags and brought the dog so she got a decent walk before it gets too hot for her. Can’t believe I’ve had to buy courgettes even though I’ve got them growing everywhere in the garden. Lots of leaves and flowers but have only produced 3 courgettes so far.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)6 -
Don't forget to tell Mr SA that you're "going for a meeting" rather than meeting friends so that he thinks it's work related and doesn't do anything to sabotage it.
I've had half a courgette from the garden so far. It was a whole courgette but something ate half of it....I have had a whole cucumber though, plus lots of raspberries and pounds and pounds of rhubarb.6 -
A mooch around the shops and lunch with friends sounds just what you need. I love meeting up with people for lunch and a good old chat 😊Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1203
