That's exactly what you should be doing SA and nipping this controlling behaviour in the bud before you retire.  It really constitutes a form of domestic abuse if you get right down to the nitty gritty - what's with the 'disguised threats!😡.  When you retire and have more time on your hands you will want to make more of a life outside the home and see your friends.  We can cheer you on but we're not having to live with him on a daily basis so I'm so happy to read that you're not putting up with any of his nonsense.  It's a real shame he can't seem to realise what a gem of a wife he has.  You deserve a 🎖.  No - actually you deserve to have all the freedom you want to do the things you want to do.

My ex was like that, made it so difficult for me to go anywhere I just gave up…then he would insist I accompanied him everywhere he went, but would ignore me once there! I wouldn’t recommend that, stand your ground SA, I wish I had. I try not to take any nonsense now, but it’s hard when you’ve been conditioned…

Thanks all. I had a lovely day. Really enjoyed catching up with my friend and it was so good to get out of the house. Mr SA behaved himself and didn’t ring me loads of times like he normally does if I’m out with friends. Did some shopping in town, it was empty, although travelling through on the way back it was busy with gangs of young males in England tops spilling out of pubs, lots of police presence. I wouldn’t want to be in town tonight that’s for sure.
