Well done on braving the crossing of doom SA
. I'm sure you'll more confident at using it over time but you should always be vigilant as not everyone stops when the lights change.
I think new doors and windows would be a good investment if they're 30 years old. It's your money so you should be the one to decide I think. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

enthusiasticsaver said:I think if it is money you saved from your salary then replacing 30 year old doors and windows is a good use of the money. Better than say frittering it on beer. As Mr SA has no idea about money now maybe just present him with a fait accompli. Difficult though if he is digging his heels in due to feeling he wants to maintain some control. If he was a bodger even before the accident though it may just be ingrained in him to do jobs as cheap as possible regardless of the quality of workmanship or materials. You often get bigger discounts from having windows and doors done at the same time. I have had three phone calls this week from previous double glazing installers we have used trying to tempt us into doing more work.I Believe.....

Evening all, that’s Tuesday done 😎
I’ll just go ahead with the quotes/work like I did with the other building work. If I ran everything past Mr SA nothing would get done. It’s only the front windows and door that are 30 years old the rest have been replaced since more recently.I’m shattered tonight, walked to/from work plus a walk at lunchtime then cooking and cleaning when I got home. Had a Mr M delivery this morning which Mr SA took in but left all of it in the kitchen still bagged up so had that to see to as well.
In work tomorrow too but working from home Thursday. As much as I like working from home it’s good to get out of the house and away from Mr SA.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)8 -

Morning folks
Working from home today again. Both feet quite sore so will be good to stay in my slippers most of the day, although I have to leave the house at some stage to take the dog out and try and fetch some toilet rolls. Yes I'm about to run out of toilet rollsNone to be had locally yesterday and Mr M were out of stock for today's delivery
Blooming people stock piling and spoiling it for everyone else, makes me so angry.
SIL is doing my head in moaning at us because we haven't cancelled our trip to Lanzarote next month. As long as travel isn't banned then we're still going. She's worried about Mr SA. More likely to pick up the virus from the bus. I'm keeping everything crossed we can still go, it's 6 weeks on Tuesday, been looking forward to it for 6 months.
Had my hair cut yesterday afternoon and made me smile when the young hairdresser asked where I was going after I'd had my hair done was I off out. Didn't tell him I was going to jump straight in the bath afterwards and ruin my hair in the steam 🤣

Honestly SA, your SIL needs to butt out! If she keeps on, perhaps you should go alone and she can look after DH?! She really needs to walk a mile in your shoes.7

SIL lives in cloud cuckoo land regarding Mr SA. She rarely comes to see him just phones him every day to moan. She has no idea of what it's like to look after him. Obviously if Jet2 cancel the holiday there's nothing we can do but for now we are still going.
Anyway celebrations are in order - I have some toilet rolls 2 packs 🎉😁 Iceland had some, you should have seen people running in and grabbing them. We were allowed 4 packs each but I could only manage 2 and to be honest 2 will see me through another month. Maybe if Savers get the ones in that I like I might pick up a pack for reserves but I will not fall for this stockpiling business. The only thing I stockpile is Zoflora but then I do this all the time anyway, I don't like to run out 😂 I can remember my mum having a cupboard full of sugar at one time when I was a child, probably some sort of shortage.
Mr M delivery no 2 has arrived and the only thing missing was cava - surely not a shortage of that as well 😒
Had a bit of a panic this morning when I checked my bank and all my accounts said N/A 😮 Thankfully when I logged back on at lunchtime all was ok - phew. There was a message saying there was a technical problem and sorry for any inconvenience.

Hi there SA - catching up with you again! Glad to hear the leg is coming on - someone mentioned earlier on your diary about getting a wheelie trolley for your shopping and work PC. I actually bought one a couple of months ago for £20 and I'm so pleased I did! It saves me lugging home a couple of shopping bags from the supermarket or the greengrocers - I hardly know I'm dragging it even when it's full - I'm sure one would be of great help to you.
I'm pleased to read that you're not letting your SIL get to you. Might be a good idea to suggest you drop off Mr SA at hers for the week before you go off to the airport and see what she says!
Good idea to go ahead with the doors without involving Mr SA. The longer you leave these things the worse they get and cost even more!
I'm glad you feel the same as me about all this stockpilng! It's just so selfish - I managed to get a pack of toilet rolls with my latest online shop, but it was only what I would be buying usually. It was the baked beans that didn't get delivered! Probably cases of them are in somewhere in the ether - along with the toilet rolls and dried pasta! Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

Nothing is changing here, I have always stockpiled. I mostly started when living in an area that could get cut off for a couple of weeks in winter. Then the sugar shortage (over 40 years ago now) just try coping with a kilo bag of sugar when 2 people in the house take 4 spoons of sugar in their tea! I am not buying any more than I have always done, but I think I may well buy extra flour so that i can make more of my own bread. Then the only problem will be milk & I am not going to drink long life, so I am just gong to have to drink black. But then I am over 70 & therefore approaching the danger zone. Also if we go anything like Italy they are going to be refusing to treat people over a certain age! I am far too bl**dy minded to let them stop me getting my state pension! These shortages seem very patchy. Lots of baked beans here got my usual 4 tin pack with no problem. No ibuprofen to be found, tried 5 stores, it isn't like they let you buy stacks either, 2 only anywhere I've been.Just to really cause hopefully an interesting conversation, someone I know deals in medical stuff & when asked about face masks said don't bother, you will be better off using a sanitary towel! It seems that the face masks the likes of us can get hold of go damp in a very short time & are then actually worse than useless!Talk about living in interesting times!10
