Well it all went pear-shaped after my last post.
Mr SA received a penalty notice from the NHS for £54 today for "claiming a free prescription when he doesn't have a medical exemption certificate". Back in November, aware that his medical exemption certificate was about to expire in December, I filled in a form and took it to the doctors for signing. I chased it up a few times as they had mislaid it and eventually they said it had been sent off. I phoned the NHS penalty line and they have never received it. Mr SA has several items a month and I've been picking these up since the certificate expired ticking the medical exemption box thinking that the doctors had sent off the form. The chap on the phone was really helpful and he said that they only do random checks and this one was picked up, fortunately nothing else is showing as having a penalty. Of course our bloomin' doctors is closed Thursday afternoons so I can't ring them to find out what they're playing at.:mad: I'm really shocked to be honest, it's shaken me up as I had no idea - they assured me it had been sent off :mad:
In the end NHS said they would waive the £45 penalty charge if I paid £9 for the prescription item, which I did. Good job one of his monthly lot of tablets hadn't been picked up
Then as if that wasn't enough, Mr SA has his "new" phone and has been hassling me to put him a radio app on it. Tried to download him a few things and surprise surprise as the phone is so old it will only update to ios 7 and the apps need ios 9 onwards. Pity he and DD didn't think of this last week when they were colluding. So you know what's going to come next don't you

Thanks Lucky. I'm so annoyed at the doctors. I'm partly tempted to say to hell with it and just get a pre-payment certificate as he needs to pick up his next set of meds this weekend and I daren't chance picking them up and ticking the exempt box but neither do I want to pay £9 per item.
On a more positive note, the dog insurance renewal arrived and they had put it up by £6 a month to £22. Rang them to cancel the renewal and have gone through Money Supermarket, got a premium plan for £12 a month and £25 cashback :money:I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
I’m not surprised you’re annoyed - I’d be fuming and the doctors would be getting a letter of complaint...
I’m guessing pestering for a new phone that does everything Mr SA wants it to do could be starting any time soon.
I hope you get a nice peaceful weekend so you can do some relaxing and have some ME time - although I know that is scarce for you:AJanuary spends - £587.580 -
Happy Friday folks

Rang the doctors, they have no record of the form, so angry with them. Had to meet Mr SA there this afternoon to fill in new form, no apologies from them, no interest in what's happened at all
Honestly the receptionists there wouldn't last 5 minutes in my job. Imagine if I was so lackadaisical.
Just did 6 hours at work again today, had a hair appointment and of course had to sort out the medical exemption form.
Looking forward to theatre tomorrow and as luck would have it a bar near the theatre have sent me a voucher for free cocktails. We were going to go there anyway for a pre-theatre drink so really chuffed about this

Would it be worth writing to the Practice Manager? Especially if you have the date you gave it in, but perhaps write anyway.
Free cocktails sound nice.
