So - have calculated it's 115 days to my next trip to Lanzarote. Must be a challenge in there somewhere, certainly plan to be debt free by then.

Thanks to the launderette trip and two sessions of walking the dog, my step count is more or less back to normal today :)

Talking of the dog, she's currently on a mission to destroy all her Christmas presents, the squeak and stuffing is out of the Santa toy,now she's tackling the squeaky bone :(

    Happy Saturday :)

Been up since 6am, noisy foxes outside meant the dog was desperate to go out and investigate. As soon as she finished her patrol of the garden she went back to bed. Charming!

On the plus side I'm enjoying the best part of the day before Mr SA gets up.

The fridge freezer is holding out - just. It's the fridge bit that's playing up, it's usually the freezer part. It's been stuffed to the rafters with food and drink over the past week so I'm not surprised. It's not been the best appliance, I've had it for just over 5 years and it's been repaired twice while still under guarantee. I've had a look online and I could get a new one for as little as £199. I don't want anything fancy, just a 50/50 freestanding one. It's whirring and buzzing right now.

Not going far today, just taking the dog on the park and going to the local shops. Hoping to get some decluttering done and come up with some sort of 100 day challenge.

What I do want to get into the habit of is keeping a tally of what I save/pay off debts, give myself a monthly/yearly target and track how I'm doing against said targets.

    Gets thinking cap on ........

Things go in 3s don't they , very annoyingly. Maybe a new fridge freezer is on the cards. I had very good service from AO when I needed new white goods.

Enjoy your time with your Australian friend tomorrow SA.

Have done loads of decluttering, I do love a good declutter :)

The lovely recalled lamp has gone back to QVC :( Although when I put the old lamp back I thought it looked quite good so won't be in a hurry to replace it. I'll just take the refund :)

My Christmas crackers finally arrived from Amazon today! They were only £4.49 so will put them away for next year.

I've packed away a few Christmas decorations, doing it by stealth so it doesn't look too bare. I'm itching to get them packed away and give everywhere a good clean.

  • I love a good declutter too :). I get fed up with the Christmas decorations too, but I'm going to keep them up until twelfth night as I think it might be keeping everybody cheerful. It does give you a chance for a good clean when you take them down.

It's good to have Lanzarote to look forward to.

I have fairy lights up all year round. I've got one of those twig trees by the patio doors in the kitchen and a lit garland round the fireplace, they never get put away. Plus lots of fairy lights in the garden. They cheer you up just looking at them, a little bit of Christmas all year round :)

Still not told Mr SA about meeting my friend today, I'll drop it into the conversation later. He won't be happy about it, especially when he realises I'm not meeting her until 5.30 meaning I'll be out at least two hours and not back until about 8pm. It would've been better if it was earlier but it can't be helped she's at work.

It annoys me that all my friends are free to go out with friends whenever they like with no protest from their OHs and I've always had a problem with Mr SA.

It's like how he won't go to the theatre/concerts but protests at me going on my own or with friends. There are quite a few things I'd love to see. I need to be more forceful and tell him I'm going and that's it, like it or lump it. Or I fear I'll go to my grave with a lot of regrets (sorry that sounds so morbid).

This is why I like to have a holiday to look forward to. It sort of makes up for other things - a bit.

We're going out tomorrow night, I'm both looking forward to it and apprehensive. We last went out for New Year's Eve three years ago and bumped into Mr SA's brother, his GF and their friends. They invited us to sit with them and it was a great night, they were good company. Mr SA totally ruined a lovely evening by having too much to drink. I didn't know he was being bought drinks and giving his brother money to fetch him drinks too. He had to be practically carried home by us and helped into bed by his brother. He wet himself too. I felt so ashamed, I rang them to apologise on his behalf the next day. Needless to say they didn't invite us out again. He's on a warning not to repeat this incident tomorrow.

    Anyway moaning over.

Still hatching a 100 day challenge for myself.

Have a good day folks :)

I've just joined the 1 debt vs 100 days challenge. The £1880 on the Barclaycard needs to be cleared by the end of March when the 0% ends. I did this challenge a few years ago and was successful, it's a great motivator.

    That's one challenge sorted :)
