Have you tried blackmail? You either wear incontinence underwear or go live with your sister.

I am sorry you have had to deal with that again. It is so unpleasant but at least when I have had to do it in the past I was paid for it. I think evebeme is right you have to find a way of making him use incontinence underwear.

Catching up with you here SA!  I loved the photos of your house and garden renovations - it's all looking great. 👍 I was glad to read his hasn't broken your egg chair and I did laugh at his, shall we say 'colourful' outfit when he met you the other day!🤣

Sorry to read though that Mr SA had the trauma with the bath. So stressful for you all - and especially his latest accident. ☹️  As I've said before, you are a saint.

Thank you all, I've told him he must wear the incontinence pads or I'll put him in a care home. Like his falls these episodes seem to come in waves and he's careful for a while then gets slapdash again.

He had a routine appointment with the nurse today for his blood pressure and for a blood test. His blood pressure was so high the nurse said he's at very high risk of a stroke. He has to see the GP tomorrow.

Anyway, today is payday, not done the money shuffling bit yet as have been in the office today and not had chance. The oddment of £1.27 went to the Christmas pot but that's all I've done so far.

Went to Lidl on my way home for a few bits and redeemed the free bakery product voucher, chose a baguette as usual.

On target to hit 20,000 steps today, almost there now. If I get time I'm going to do a Pilates or Yoga stretching session later.

I'm watching a live WW cook along at 6pm and as I have the ingredients have decided to cook along this time. It's a One Pot Curry Spiced Rice, I'll make 2 portions eat one tonight and freeze the other.

In garden news, I have my first tomato of the year, the salad leaves also more or less ready to start cropping and the coriander has finally germinated and growing on the third attempt. I was late planting seeds this year as I wanted to wait until we came back from holiday in May, so they were only planted about 5 weeks ago.

The kitten has become obsessed with catching frogs and is constantly stalking the pond area. Rescued a huge frog from her last night - it was squealing! Another large frog rescued this morning (maybe the same one?) then about 5 minutes later a tiny frog. I brought her in the house after that as I was leaving for work.

Our two have been busy mousing, @Sun_Addict. This time last year when we were cat-less, we kept seeing little mice out in the garden enjoying the sunshine, finishing off bird food, etc - there's more than one house with chickens on our side of the road which also encourages them. Anyway, that was fine, but of course once the weather gets cooler in the autumn, they always find their way in to breed under our floorboards (they run underneath between our house & next door), sneaking up to raid our pantry. So much as I don't like to see cats catching wildlife, I have to admit I shan't mind if the local house mouse population is brought under control. Soot is quite interested in frogs but hasn't tackled one yet. He's new to outdoor life so I don't think he knows what they are!
It must be stressful & unpleasant for you having to keep clearing up nasty messes - Is Mr SA not able to clean up after himself when this happens or would the job not get done thoroughly enough? If he genuinely can't clear up these accidents, I think it really is only fair for him to mitigate the situation by using some sort of protection products. "In sickness & in health" & all that is one thing, but it isn't fair to expect you to be doing quite this level of cleaning up after messy accidents if the extent of them can be avoided. It's not a pleasant situation for him either so I'd have thought using some sort of incontinence product would be a win for both of you?

Just want to say I hear you SA - there should be periodic respite for every carer. In other work environments you are encouraged to take your leave and to take it regularly for your well being but carers somehow are supposed to do 24/7/365 endlessly and manage perfectly well.

I really dread what comes next as mum's care needs increase as there's only me.

Does Mr SA get embarrassed or is that not a feeling he recognises. I don’t envy you that job though.

If he does he doesn’t show it. The brain damage has left him with an expressionless face so it’s hard to tell. I don’t think he understands how unpleasant it is for me.

I’m in a carers group at work and we have a monthly support call. It’s unbelievable what some are going through and how little help they get. Unpaid carers are the forgotten army who save the NHS a fortune.
