@Sun_Addict, that's what we did when we had our living room redecorated last year. I wanted a pale colour too so picked 'Rocksalt' which is the palest possible grey imaginable, but then I thought as we'd had a nice new fireplace & stove installed, I might as well have more of a 'statement' colour for the chimney breast wall. Can't remember what it's called, but it is a very restful green colour - vivid enough to be interesting, but not 'in your face'. We ended up liking the 'Rocksalt' so much that we had it throughout most of the house. We chose it from the D*lux 'trade' range because my friend told me that there are a lot more colours available through that range than what we generally get to see in the shops.
I love picking colours & planning a refurb. So many possibilities......enjoy!

Morning, happy Sunday.
It will be NSD 1/12 for April today. No plans to go anywhere other than the park across the road with the dog.I want to give the bathroom a good clean today once DD has gone to work and stopped going in and out of it. I’d also like to give the dining room a good clean. The living room refurb won’t end with the building works. A new sofa is needed plus a chair for Mr SA. Specialist chairs for the disabled are very expensive so a high seated chair may have to suffice, it will have to be leather or faux leather because of the accidents. Then there’s cushions, curtains, light fitting, the list goes on. The aim is to get it all done by Christmas. I’m not going to change the fireplace. The builder has just changed his own and he warned what a mess it created. I still like the surround so will just change the fire at some point. We never have the fire on anyway, it’s just a feature more than anything.I’m going to do a meal plan for the whole month up to when we go on holiday, trying to use up things already in stock. Really need to stick to the grocery budget now as once the higher direct debit kicks in there won’t be much wiggle room.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4 -
I’m presuming you know you can claim vat back if the furniture is specially for a person with a disability and you can prove it. Not sure how you go about it but a relative of mine had a chair and bed with electronically moving mattress and he claimed the vat back.
I love planning for new decorations in the house. Enjoy 👍January spends - £587.583 -

Funnily enough I’ve just looked on eBay and there’s a disability shop on there sells exactly the chair he needs for under £400. Have saved the seller for future reference.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3

You can get clothes too VAT free. I used to buy my mother's shoes from one. I never did discover how you could wreck perfectly good shoes when you couldn't even walk but it happened.

Having a good clean round today has made me realise we don’t really need a new sofa. It’s leather and still in really good condition, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it. I was looking at DFS website earlier and saw a sofa I liked then realised it was the same one as mine. So that’s saved a lot of money and hassle. Mr SA’s chair is wrecked (by him) so that really does need replacing unfortunately.Have made a batch of red lentil soup for work lunches. Tonight’s dinner is a portion of nut roast from freezer stocks with some of the parmentier potatoes and loads of veg.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5

We have had our leather sofas for 15 years and keep considering changing them.
But there is nothing wrong with them and like you whenever we look at replacements they are always very similar. 🤣🤣🤣
