Would it help to actually complain about the interview process (not the people)?
Sometimes you have to be bold enough to question a plainly flawed system.
Would it help to approach someone from the interview panel to ask for coaching?
Or ask HR to attend an interview technique training module - and if there isn't one, putting that request in the form of a process improvement suggestion? What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?3 -

Or ask HR to attend an interview technique training module - and if there isn't one, putting that request in the form of a process improvement suggestion? It’s difficult to explain the Civil Service recruitment process it’s not like the outside world. The interview panel are usually the person you’d be working for and a couple of volunteers. I’ve actually volunteered to be an interviewer myself to get some experience. There is a feedback form whenever you apply for jobs and I always complain about the lengthy process. Managers in my office are putting in a collective complaint about the whole process and how long it takes and feeding it up to senior leaders. There’s such a lot of recruitment going on at the moment in the civil service involving thousands of people. If it’s an external trawl it’s even slower. There are lots of interview technique training modules, I went on one prior to my first interview. I’m in the process of putting together some workshops for potential applicants on how to respond well to the questions and how to put together good scenarios that will score highly.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5 -
The whole interview process sounds a nightmare……it’s an eye opener though 😳

That method of recruitment is pretty standard for the public sector. I have been involved in it both as the interview candidate & on several panels. I can't say I enjoy any kind of job interview, but I do think that with this method, one can learn to 'play the game'. If I had a maximum of 5 points to award for a question, I'd be looking for candidates to make 5 good clear relevant points, rather than talking at length about just one thing. The most annoying thing about all interviews, I always think, is going through the whole stressful process then finding out there was an internal candidate lined up for it.

Morning all, happy Friday
Not the best start to the day - I've just found out I didn't get the job 😥 I looked at the feedback and I got pretty decent scores, I even scored 7 for one question which means it exceeds expectations.
Oh well back to the drawing board.
