Sectioning can also make things worse with some diagnoses. And hospital treatment may well mean medication and very little else - psychological treatments can be very limited/non existent for in-patients. It may keep the person safe for a little while, but sectioning isn't a magic bullet.
The OP's energies might be better off fighting for CBT and community treatment.
Has your daughter seen these?

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
OP, Why dont you just take her to A&E and speak to someone and get her to tell them she WANTS to be sectioned as she cannot cope and is feeling suicidal.
Do you have any idea of the state of mental health services in this country? People can only be sectioned if there is somewhere to place them, no beds means no section. There are repeatedly nights where there is not one spare mental health beds in the whole country.0 -

If it were my family member i would be turning up every day if i had to.
Yes, some days no beds are available but other days there are beds available.0 -

This would not surprise me at all but do you have anything to support the assertion that people who it is has been agreed should be sectioned cannot be placed and are, therefore, left with their family
In my volunteering I frequently see clients with mental health issues who are unsupported and are struggling but I have not come across this particular problem. In this case I would agree with seashore22 that, in my experience, anyway, someone who had not eaten for seven days would likely get some emergency assistance.
The lack of care and support for people with mental health problems in this country is an absolute scandal. But, with the OP and his daughter, I am finding it increasingly difficult to understand what is actually happening. He has stated that the local mental health team (although every other organisation disagrees - not sure if they have seen her) have refused to section the daughter so it seems it is not the lack of a bed that is the issue.0 -

Im sure i could google and find links where people have successfully found a bed or place.
As i said, i would be practically camped out there waiting for a place if it was that serious.0 -

Thanks.
They are appalling stories and we are all aware, I think, of the problems with mental health services. In these cases, though, bad as they are, the patients were not left with their families which is what I was wondering about.0 -

The first one was, and the other links that talk about unacceptable wait times, where do you think they are waiting?0 -

The first one was in Scotland wasn’t he - not at home. But not in a secure bed which is the issue.
I don’t know where they were waiting, do you? Maybe like the first one in unsuitable accommodation - but not with the family.0
