I had the exact same experience as you MollyR.  I tried several times to complete the study, tried refreshing the page, all to no avail.  Eventually I had to return the study, but I was annoyed as it had taken so long to try to get it to work and there had been a lot of reading involved beforehand.

I have now heard from the researcher:
"Hi there, Thank you for the great feedback. I really appreaciate it. Yes, there is a design error in our experiment. Your feedback helped us design the study more rigorously. Please go ahead and submit your participation, regardless of whether you could proceed with the study. In appreciation for your effort, we approve your submission. Thank you so much again!"
I replied:  "I cannot submit the study now - it timed out long ago.  (And in any case, I could not have submitted it until it was completed, which it could never have been, since the page would not let me progress.)  You will have to make the payment via the bonus system, which can be done despite a study being returned."
And they came back: "My apologies for taking your time. I applaud your honesty and conscientiousness. Please stay tune. We will reach out to you again for the subsequent study. Thank you again for your time."

    Hello

The study below, asked for identifying information: Postcode and date of birth. Is this allowed? I returned the study. Did you complete it?

You have been preselected for this study together with your partner, who will also receive an invitation. Please do not discuss this study with your partner until both of you have finished.

You will not only contribute to valuable market research but also gain personalized recommendations tailored to your individual shopping habits. The survey takes around 14 minutes.

Sounds totally impermissible under Prolific rules - they freely admit they are going to try to send you targeted advertising!

I had one previously that asked for date of birth. I gave them something in the same year but not my actual DOB. Wasnt worth the hassle of querying it, since it was pretty much the same value as Age in terms of info. It may have been the same survey asking the postcode of where I grew up. I just gave the first 2 letters which it accepted.

Agree that marketing one looks well dodgy.

    UK Politics Forecasting Survey 3

    Anyone else do this one?

About 8 o clock last night an e-mail study notification from Prolific popped up on my laptop screen.  I intended to just ignore it and delete the e-mail as i usually shut prolific down at 4 o clock, but then noticed the study was for 12 quid so decided to have a look.

It was looking for feedback from a political forecasting study that mainly took place on en external web site, but it was months ago so have little recollection of the site.

I tried my best to give feedback with what little recollection I had and was paid instantly.

I think the researchers would have been better off asking for feedback sooner in my opinion, but assume they had a reason for not doing so?

I had one for nine quid pop up at about 1.30 this morning. Unfortunately, it was 40 minutes long and I’d had several glasses of wine so decided it probably wasn’t the best time all things considered. Which is a bit of a shame, not getting any well paying ones when I’m sober and awake.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

The best-paying ones always seem to pop up just as I am about to go and cook lunch. :'(

I had that £9 pop up at about 7.30 on Friday night which I didn't think was the best time to try and get some response.  I had one of those £15 start in the next10 minutes a few days ago but it just hung on me so I had to return it. Also had a £10.50 reading study for older adults which turned out to be for 65-90 year old so I should have been screened out by age but wasn't. Very frustrating.
