Hi. looking to sign up to these. Are they well paying? I've done Swagbucks but they pay so little!

They are well-paying, and once you have entered one you never get DQed.   However, they are rather different from ordinary surveys;  they are all academic studies, and it is crucial to be absolutely truthful in your replies, rather than give the answer that you think the survey is looking for, the way some people do in Swagbucks.  Sometimes, people's PhD results may depend on it!  If you are interested, there is a lot of information at https://participant-help.prolific.co/hc/en-gb.

I think also they were oversubscribed, and there was a waiting list.

There wasn’t a waiting list when I joined, but it probably depends on the demographics and where the gaps are. So a bit “how long is a piece of string”.

Definitely all down to demographics. I had no wait, friend waited 2-3weeks, DD been on list for months and still waiting, another friend waited about 1 week

This is a stupid question and only loosely related I know. But I've stopped getting notifications on this Prolific thread and I can't see how to resolve it even though I've looked around MSE. I have this as a bookmarked thread but I don't get email notifications any more. Any advice gratefully received (though I might not spot your reply till I next look at this thread!).

Profile / Account and  Privacy Settings / Notification Preferences.  Ticking in the Bell column will make notifications appear in the bell in the top right of the screen;  ticking in the Email column will send you notifications by e-mail.  This is all for posts in topics;  some people want notifications for anything new in an entire category, and that is in a different place (Followed Content).

£8 study from Oxford university. Over 18 - check, working audio - check, chrome - check, political beliefs - check.
Hit all the criteria in the blurb. start the study, answer a few questions then get told I'm not eligible, thanks and goodbye.
    Not impressed.

Exactly the same here - I met all the qualifying criteria, ticked the correct boxes and then was told I wasn't eligible.  I've messaged the researcher but not had a reply yet, but of course it's timed out now.
