I have already sent feedback to say that the new theme is very uncomfortable to read as the letters are so thick and clunky...0

Real-time social interaction study (£1.5 + 30% chance to get a bonus of £1)
By esade.edu£1.50 • £6.00/hr15 mins1 placeIn this 15-mins study, the main task is an online negotiation with another person from Prolific. Specifically, you will be paired with another person from Prolific, and negotiate with that person using an online chatroom that we provide.
- If we are able to pair you, and you complete the negotiation and answer follow-up questions, you will receive £1.5.
- In addition, you will receive an extra £1 bonus if your negotiation outcome is better than 70% of the participants who have the same material as you in this study.
I thought I was lucky, there was 1 spot available and I got it. Then I found myself in a waiting room, waiting for anothere participant, with the researcher's notes saying they would aim to match me with another participant and to wait a few minutes, and if they couldn't match me, I'd be paid 50p. Well I waiting for about 5-7 minutes, with nobody being matched to me, and given I was the last slot it didn't look like anybody was likely to be, so I eventually bombed out and returned the survey. I contacted the researcher with no response as yet. If nothing by tomorrow I will be putting in a complaint.

Anyone do this one and get rejected?
Understanding Deception in ChatGPT Responses
By postgrad.manchester.ac.uk£2.00 • £12.00/hr10 mins1 place
This was a bit odd because the study itself stated that it comprised a screening survey, which was unpaid, and a main survey, which was paid £2. They obviously have misunderstood how that is supposed to work on Prolific, and when I failed the screener I expected to be asked to return the study - which I would have contested as I had already spent 5 minutes on it and it's against Prolific's rules. But instead I was given a completion code, so I submitted the study and thought I'd be paid after all.Now I've had my submission rejected, for the following reasons:"- Gave intentionally low-effort responses- Didn't answer essential questions"I'm really annoyed about this as I have never intentionally spent less effort on a study than I felt was required, and I answered all the questions I was asked. I responded to the researcher's rejection message this morning, asking them to elaborate and explaining what had happened, and that perhaps they had misunderstood how Prolific works, and that I certainly didn't appreciate being accused of half-arsing their study when I had done nothing of the sort. I haven't received any reply. Apparently I have to wait a week before escalating it to Prolific. It feels to me like the researcher made a mistake in setting up their study to give completion codes to participants who had been screened out (and didn't realise that in-study screening is not allowed), and is trying to get out of paying screened-out participants by rejecting their submissions. So I'd be interested to hear from anyone else who had the same experience.1 -
I just did a long one, it did take the full 70 minutes but a lot of the time was a three minute break between questions as we waited for everyone to respond. Probably without that I would have completed it within 20 minutes.

Information seeking study- 2 sessions from the University of Glasgow. £18 for the two session, 180 minutes.
Done the first one, which did indeed take the full 90 minutes.
The instructions say that
"As this study includes a 24 hour delay, Prolific will likely tell you that you have "timed out" of this experiment. However, as long as you complete the second session within 24-96 hours after the end of the first session, you can safely ignore this message. Completing both parts of the experiment within the correct time frame will ensure you getting paid."
Does that mean I just let it time out instead of hitting the complete button after the first session?
Messaged the researcher but still waiting for a reply. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
