I can understand it if there is only a few places left @Deleted_User, maybe several people all clicking at the same time, but when it is well over 100, it is just mad. Not had anything else today at all. Keep plodding on....

I think I had that one too - 100+ places and already full.  I've also had about four or five this morning, all already full, varying from 1 to 50+ places allegedly available.

In addition, I keep getting separate notifications  for the same Study separated by about 5 or 10 minutes.  Every time the Study is, again, also already full.
    Was that this one:

I've had different variations of this pop up about 10 times since 10am.  I managed to get into 2 of them.

Why do I always have long well paying studies pop out when I've got to go out?

I do wonder whether the algorithm takes into account the value of the study as well as the number of them. If you've done 10 paying 15p each, you'd rather have 2 paying £2 each.

Just adding my point of view and experience.  I have recently had an extended time off work and worked from home which meant I could do many more studies.
Like everyone has said, I found that there wasn't many studies and it was hard to get a place.
However for the last month I have been back in the office for the majority of the day (I cant do studies at work) Now I find that when I log on (which isn't that often)  there are always studies waiting, sometimes more than one and that I am quite likely to get a place even if there are only a few places remaining.  There are definitely lots of studies flying about, I just don't have the time to do them!
Appreciate that, thanks - everyone's experience is clearly a bit different !  I must have a look at the Reddit on Prolific and see what folks there are reporting (which will be a worldwide audience, not just UK).

It'd be interesting actually to have someone from Prolific on here to help us understand better...
I looked at the Reddit on Prolific last night and again just now, but there does not seem to be any complaints about this issue or the "hundreds of places" issue.   Folk there are usually quite quick to flag up problems.

I haven't had many offered this morning, couple with c. 20-30 places which were full.

But also one irritating one (Study about work-related decision-making, Lehigh.edu, 250 places) which I got into OK, but then the introduction page said they wanted people from the USA only !  Not sure what went wrong there, I thought the system would have known not to offer it to someone in the UK.   I returned it and explained why.
  • If you have an.old.phone maybe this is the problem with getting into studies,.on my old phone when I clicked on start study the wheel used to spin loading but since I have my new phone this happens a lot less

The message that pops up is different to the usual study full message. It says:

"We are sorry but we could not create your submission at this time. The study has reached its maximum capacity for active/reserved submissions."

If you keep refreshing the page you can see that the number of places available is going down very slowly. Active places are being limited and it's worth keeping trying. I've managed to get a couple of these today by leaving the pages open and just hitting 'start study' again at random intervals.

I mainly use a laptop, sometimes my phone. But my laptop is quite old, maybe that is the issue. Been thinking of getting a new one soon, will see if it makes any difference if I do. Hopefully things will improve before then though
