A side hustle would be things like selling stuff regularly on eBay, or regularly walking other people's dogs for money, or any other way of earning what would usually be cash in hand.
  • That's great, thanks for making it so clear MollyR.

I don't have any other income then. My less than £1000 per Tax Year income from Prolific is a lot to me and it sounds as if I am now safe to put the 20% I was keeping aside for tax, just in case, to my savings/bill fund.

    It's good news for me.
  • I just did one of those "make the AI say something unsafe" ones. The scenario I picked was to make it write a vulgar song, and my god, it really went for it! For the first time I think I might be in the running for the £50 bonus for people who make it say the most unsafe things!

I managed to get on one of those this morning, and thought I did pretty well too. I won't go into the details, but I felt both good (for thinking I succeeded) and very dirty (for what I made it come up with) at the end of it.

Mine totally refused to say any of the things I was trying to make it say.  It was pretty critical of me and my (assumed) opinions, and I felt it was probably as relieved as I was when the session came to an end!

Contrastingly, mine seemed to be enjoying itself rather too much!

Wow. I started a £1.50 study earlier this afternoon, and returned it fairly quickly because there were a lot of open-ended responses required, and I never feel like I can do those justice (not to mention they always take me longer than estimated). I just had a message from the researcher, thanking me for considering the study and giving me a £1 bonus payment in appreciation, even though I didn't complete it. Very unexpected, and very generous. I wish more researchers would do that, as I've returned a lot of studies over the years!
  • Has anyone not received any surveys from Prolific for a couple of months and then started getting them again?

I was a pretty regular contributor and I don't think I even had a survey rejected (I did once get an attention question wrong though).  Not had a thing since early December - which does coincide with moving house and internet provider (only a mile down the road though and same area).

I've not had my account officially put on hold but apparently they won't look into it until I've not had anything for 2 months.  I was supposed to complete the next part of a long running survey today so assumed that would appear, but no sign of that either (I have messaged the researcher though to let them know).

I've had nothing - I've got the notification widget so would have seen if anything had come in.

The first couple of weeks of Jan were pretty dry for me, but things have picked up again this week. I completed three or four yesterday, a couple already today, and I've passed on several that I could have done. I've not got experience of a house (and ISP address) move, so can't help with that.
  • Yes, I've had it go dry before, but to have had no surveys at all in 6 weeks seems odd!  I can't even cash out as I am 15p under the minimum.

The only reason I wondered about the move was that I've not been able to take part in a couple of surveys on another site as it's flagged that my location is not the same as the one I registered with.  Which is ridiculous as I've moved within London and am still within the same borough! What's My IP has been as London as well still.
