A study about memory and learning v23

I will have earned my £9... this was the most taxing study I've ever done on Prolific.  Nearly an hour on full screen with no idea of time elapsed and no breaks.  Was given a brief flash of two striped discs rotated at different angles and then had to reproduce the angle of one of them, over and over again.  I swear more than once I found myself staring at the disc I had to rotate to reproduce what I'd seen, with no memory of the two example discs, I think I had fallen asleep for a split second! So difficult to maintain focus!  Horrible!

Totally agree  - this was also the closest I had come to giving up on a study.  I was seeing stripes everywhere in front of my eyes for the next 15 minutes after it had ended.  I just had to keep reminding myself of the £9 payment and that it has to end sometime.  It's a good job I'm stubborn and refuse to give up on tasks but it did nearly break me.

In case its of any comfort to you Crimson I have been an active member on Prolific for 10 months.  In that time I have done 630 studies but only 520 are approved.  No rejections but the hundred or so deficit between approved and total submissions are all returned studies.
Three years in and I'm on 1115 out of 1214.  Still 5 awaiting review so my 'hit' rate is 92%.  That's fine by me.

    I’m at 834 of 895, 5 awaiting review. I make that 93%.

the return rate has been far higher in the last month.

Video Call Experiment on Monday (University of Oxford)

    Hosted by Roberto Rozzi

I'm afraid I am not having a good 'run' of it with Prolific just now.  I have to accept responsibiity for messing up my appointment for the above Study and will be glad if anyone can help, please.  I booked a one minute Zoom slot for this Monday and now I realize that I won't  be at home with my laptop, camera and audio etc.

Does anyone know how I can access the calendar again to cancel and reschedule the time of my Zoom appointment?  I am anxious not to let the Researcher down.

I think I need to abandon Prolific Studies for a bit because  I'm not doing at all well - scared to count the number of Returned Studies - although not all my fault.   I have contacted the Researcher but, so far, have not received a reply.
Any help will be very much appreciated.

I have zoom on my mobile, is that an option for you?

I must admit I am curious as to what such a short zoom meeting could entail.
One simple question. They were running late, my zoom meeting started 8 minutes late, so advise allowing extra time.

  • Thanks silvercar.  I still have not received  an email confirmation and need to cancel my afternoon appointment  and reschedule for later today.

I tried contacting the Researcher (from as soon as I realized I had to reschedule) but no reply so far.

I don't  want to let the Researcher down but I am 'stuck' with no email link and no replies from the Researcher.

Thanks for letting us know about the delay, silvercar.

Wouldn’t make any difference anyway. Checking the calendar, there’s a single one minute slot at 12.15 then the rest are fully booked.

ETA  - I've had a reminder as well but that may be because I used my throwaway competition email rather than the prolific one.

    Have messaged you.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

    An academic study

In this study, you will be asked to answer some questions about your decision making process. This study is not compatible with mobile phones.

I should have returned this study as soon as it stated there was a writing task.  Trouble is, I don't know when to stop, needless to say it took me longer than the estimated completion time.

I’ve just done this. Not sure why it had to be a zoom call rather than just a simple text question on a form…

I guess they think your answer may be different when you are face to face rather than just typing an answer. I can understand why, given the question.
