  • If there was a way of knowing that a study was a Gorilla platform one, in advance of reserving a place, I would not click on it - particularly when there may appear to be anything from 1 to about 20 or more places available.

These Gorilla Platform studies are almost always100 per cent full and the notice advises to Return the study.  Every time, I give Prolific the same reason for returning these particular Studies they still continue to recur.

Although there is no penalty it is, unfortunately,  mostly just a waste of time.

Invitation to Interview Study About Retirement Living Properties

    By Bertie Cummins

    101 places

Hello, We are looking at testing the performance of a website of a company that provides retirement living properties. If you are aged over 65+ and would consider a retirement property we would like to speak with you. The study will be a short interview conducted on your mobile smartphone. We pay a flat rate of £25 for a 25min interview. We will direct you to a website and ask for your feedback on some of the pages.

    £0.40 • £13.99/hr

    1 min

This appeared on my feed this morning for some reason as I am not in the correct age group.

Also as a rule I do not do video interviews, but not a bad way to earn £25 for someone.

I was pleased to see this (thank you yupiteru) and on 28 May I managed to reserve a place on the Study with the Interview appointment (as described on smartphone) booked for 9.30 this morning - Monday 30 May 2022.

I have been waiting with my smartphone fully charged and open ready to start for 9.30.  No invitation email with the link had arrived by 9.42 a.m. and I sent a message to ask when the link would arrive.  So far (although I only just sent the message at about 9.42 a.m.)  there has been no response.  Without the email and link I cannot access the interview.

Having prepared for this I really am quite disappointed and wonder why the appointment was not honoured.  Has anyone had success in accessing their pre-arranged appointment?

Same here, I secured a place then returned them all immediately and reported as underpaying.

They were using the name jk jk but the url was the usual one from Cardiff I noticed.

Not that it will make any difference by the looks of things, but It makes me feel good if nothing else.

Ah, on mine this morning it said YT Wang so it sounds like they are using multiple names at the same time.

That's interesting and devious.  I assume the aim is to collect as much data as possible before the study is paused by prolific and using different names confuses things slightly and makes the strategy more likely to work.

In the past they have used the name Yating Wang.  Yating is a Chinese boys name rom Chinese 雅 (yǎ) meaning "elegant, graceful, refined" combined with 婷 (tíng) meaning "pretty, graceful".

JK on the other hand which is the other researcher name used earlier, is a Japanese term with the "JK business" being the 'compensated dating with adolescent girls.

The abbreviation JK stands for 女子高生 (joshi kōsei), a female high school student according to Wikipedia.

It gets stranger by the day...........

Edit - my curiosity got the better of me so have been doing some research.

In this study, you will be immersed in a virtual urban environment and complete a survey.

Did anyone else get stuck trying to download this? It said it would take 10 mins to download but It's been around 20 minutes for me now and it seems to have stuck half way through.

Yes, it was a nightmare so I gave up and reported the issue

I did persevere with this one. It took about 15 minutes to download. I found that if you went off the page and  clicked on another one and then went back it seemed to boost it along.  Once it was downloaded,  it all worked fine.  I found it quite an interesting study.
  • Has anyone done one of those ‘Interview Questions’ surveys which pay about 35p for recording a 70 second response to a couple of interview questions?

They claim it takes 3 minutes but in reality takes at least double that.

Yes I did a couple a few months ago. I gave very brief answers when I did it - definitely not 70seconds long which they wanted. I wouldn't do one again though. Too much effort for what it was worth and as you say it takes longer than they estimate.  I saw something similar appear today but I dismissed it.

Glad to hear you managed to do this one. I had to return mine in the end even though I kept on refreshing the page. It did sound interesting so I was disappointed not to be able to do it.
