Like you,and the others, willowcat27, I really dislike the Gorilla Platform Studies. Practically always full and no way of knowing in advance until a place is 'Reserved' then, as full, no option other than to 'Return' the Study.I don't understand why Prolific don't do something, in co-operation with the Researchers, to solve this problem.Crimson1

When I joined there wasn’t a wait, but it’s got more well known since then. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.1 -
I'm like elsien as when I joined I was able to participate straight away. Now there seem to be plenty of participants and some days there aren't any Studies available for me, or there may be a number of studies which are allfull by the time notification is received, evdn when I click to start on a reservation straight away. This makes me think that Prolific are limiting the number of new participants although, if so, six months seems a long time to wait for a place, queenofcats.Since applying have you contacted Prolific to ask about the length of your wait?Crimson1

queenofcats said:I’ve been on the waitlist to join for 6 months now.l is it usually this long a wait?Others have reported waiting this long also on other Prolific related forums. Prolific seem to be assessing and screening the demographics of potential participants. They got badly bitten last year when a 'side hustles' channel on Tiktok run by a teenager called Sarah Frank released a video promoting Prolific. The video went viral and got 4.1 million views in the month after it was posted, this inspired a massive number of young women of a certain demographic to join up with Prolific. This major demographic shift badly effective the pool balance according to Prolific and researchers noticed their studies were flooded with responses from young women around Frank’s age rather from a more representative samples of the population.Since that incident Prolific appear to be keeping a tight control over the participant pool numbers and are screening applicants demographics to maintain a balance.Sadly this has had a negative effect for some people and I hope you secure a place soon.

4 studies showing for me this morning. Unfortunately all were from YT Wang and paying 40p each for 15 minutes. I didn't take any of them. I don't understand how this researcher hasn't been picked up by Prolific as they consistently underpay and not by small amounts either.2
