Woke up to this one at around 6 o clock this morning and secured a place, but encountered an error message stating 'Unable to load survey'.

Also noticed that after a few page refreshes the places available rose from 217 to 220 so other participants were maybe also having a problem and returning the study?

After a few unsuccessful attempts of 'Open study in new window' I contacted the researcher and waited, but had to return the study at the point of timing out as I had received no reply.

They were based in New Mexico and it was around 11 PM there, but I find the majority of researchers do not reply to my messages regardless of the time.

Just received a reply from the researcher who apologised and admitted it was his fault and that he 'made a copy/paste error when setting up the survey link'.

Good of him to get back to me and admit his mistake.

Prolific is having problems again today. Slow and now this message. Have tried again in 30 seconds but still showing it.

The site is noticeablly slow to respond today and, at times, is still freezing.  I was out for a short time and when I logged in again later it was, and still is, very quiet for me.

I did that one - it’s been approved already.

On a side note, I often do the ‘desktop only’ ones on an iPad and they work fine most the time.

When a study is available suitable for Tablet, if I can, I reserve a place on my Tablet but always prefer to start the study on my Desktop - if at all possible.  Somehow I seem to have better success with studies on my Desktop.

After quite a 'lull' today I have just successfully completed to completion code (on Desktop)

I'm pleased to have a successful Study after such a quiet period and no signs at all of any problems with the screen freezing - everything seemed to go well.

Just a quick update:  My screen on Prolific has just started to freeze again, then this notice:  "

Error: Server Error

The server encountered a temporary error and could not complete your request.Please try again in 30 seconds".

After 30 seconds I tried again but still the same notice as above.  It must be an intermittent problem because, on third attempt, the site seems to be back to normal again.

I just tried that one Crimson, but all I got was 'No expression detected" even though my camera was on. So I spent a very strange 10 minutes watching myself pull strange expressions before giving up and returning it.  I wish I knew what is wrong with my set up as it never seems to be able to detect my face on these sorts of studies. Those eye tracking studies never work for me either. 
Pleased it worked for you though.  Its nice when you complete one isn't it.  Just the one for me today and 3 returned.  Here's hoping for better luck tomorrow.

Did you receive  a message, after 'No expression detected,' suggesting you should show teeth for annoyance/anger, willowcat27?   I had been frowning and it was not detected but when I showed teeth (!) ithe expressions with gritted teeth were picked up. After that I tried to smile without showing teeth.

I'm sorry you weren't  successful - especially after your time and effort, it's  so disappointing.

I hope tomorrow's  studies are much more successful for you.

Yes, I got the message about suggesting to show teeth, which I did.  I think I must have tried every expression (I was glad no-one else was in the room, they would have thought I'd gone mad)  but it got to the end of the first part and still no expression had been detected. I then tried moving the camera angle and sitting closer to the screen but nothing seemed to make any difference.  I just thought that to carry on was unfair and they probably would have rejected it anyway so I cancelled it.

That's really frustrating, willowcat27, and a pity you didn't have any success.  Although I had the same problem at first, it resolved for me when I showed my teeth.  I can't think why it didn't work for you.

Like you - I was glad no one could see me with all the different contortions!
