I had the same thing earlier - messaged the researcher with details of my browser version and returned the study. I think I left it about 5 minutes to load, having answered a handful of questions at the beginning.
  • This was genuinely the most boring study I’ve ever done. Clicking between 1 of 2 shapes for about 40 minutes😴

    Naturalness judgements

    By Karen Dwyer

Thought the rate of pay on this one was incredible, but of course it's not what it seems. It's a Gorilla survey, but not the usual problem - in this case it gave an error: "Participant ID missing from incoming URL." But I could see my Prolific ID in the URL. Anyway I had to return it. So the 1 minute average completion time is presumably due to everyone having to return the study within less than a minute, and getting paid £0/min rather than £134.50/hour.

I saw this one late last night, I nearly clicked on it but it was getting a bit late for me. I couldn't trust myself to fully concentrate on it so I didn't bother.  I'm glad I didn't now. I did wonder about the generous pay rate!

The effect of emotion-based diversification and visualization on user experience in recommendation systems

Dr. Mokryn and Dr. Knijnenburg invite you to participate in a research study. Dr. Mokryn is a professor at Haifa University, and Dr. Knijnenburg is a professor at Clemson University. This study aims to test a new recommender system for movies. Your participation in this study will be valued.

Something a little different that when first began looked like it was going to take a lot longer than the projected completion time, but it did not take that long in the end, taking into account that I had to switch browsers from Firefox to Chrome.

I'm currently on this one, and it's got to the stage where it's loading the main part of the study, and I'm just seeing a "Loading" message with spinning dots. Been waiting a couple of minutes. Did this section take a long time to load for you?

No everything worked fine for me, it took a couple of minutes at most but nothing unusual for my ancient Dell laptop.

I went to the bathroom whilst it loaded and when I came back it was done.

Interestingly it did recommend for me some of my favourite movies at the end.

Just came back from a cycle ride and this appeared, so it was touch and go as I like to have an hour to recover my body and mind, but I gave it a go anyway.

Blocks of questions were on a countdown timer and I definitely did not answer all the 98 correctly, as I wasn't firing on all cylinders after my exertions, but I am hoping for half so a bonus of £1.50 maybe

I did this one too. I think it'd be impossible to get them all right. Some of them were really ambiguous.

I had 45 minutes to spare, and the rate of pay looked good, so I had a go at this.  After two or three preliminary questions I was confronted with a page which threw up an error message.  This happened despite refreshing, and clearing the cache, so I messaged the researcher.  They came back very quickly, asking more questions to enable them to track down the problem.  After an hour they said they had fixed it and invited me to continue (the countdown timer still had an hour left).  Unfortunately I no longer had 45 minutes to spare, and told her so - so she sent me a bonus of £9 for my wasted time and for helping her to fix the problem.  If only all researchers were like that!

Logged on at 6 o clock this morning and there was an email from Jim at Prolific directing me to this one.  It was not until I finished it that I realised it was under paid.

What hope do we have if prolific themselves are directing us to studies that do not comply with their own guidelines?

Study took me around 20 mins as well, partly because I had not consumed any caffeine yet, but does state a bonus will be given if you 'answer more questions' but not entirely sure what that means.

Edit - Forgot to add, I cannot remember doing part one.
