Shop for your favourite dining room furniture

    By Dan Walker

    The test scenario:

Imagine you have  £2000 to spend on a new dining table & chairs for your own house. Add your choice of furniture to the cart (get to the checkout but do not place the order).

    £5.30 • £18.23/hr

    17 mins

Managed to get a place but got an error message at the beginning stating that there was a problem with my internet connection.
Tried a few times but sadly had to return the study in the end.

Is anyone else having trouble viewing their messages on Prolific today? The little red dot is showing indicating a new message, but clicking on Messages shows me an empty inbox, without even the messages that were previously there. I'm concerned that I may be missing something important.

I have no red dot at the moment, but I can see all my messages.  Firefox 100.0.2 64-bit on Windows 7, if that helps.

I had a message at about 10.30 last night which I didn't open until about 6.30 this morning when I noticed and clicked on the red dot.  Although I have not had any new messages since then I have noticed this morning, on Chrome, that sometimes when I click on 'submissions' or 'about you' from 'studies' the screen seems to freeze.  It seems to be all right just now.

In Firefox, for a long time now I often find that links from the Studies page don't work when the page has been open for a while;  I just right-click on the link to open it in a new tab, and close the original tab.

Still having intermittent problems with Firefox, even after restarting the browser, although the messages seem to be loading fine on Chrome. That's somewhat annoying.

The description said to allow 25 minutes "just in case" (although this would have made it underpaying), so 25 minutes after starting I returned the study and messaged the researcher expressing a hope that my feedback about their movie recommender not loading would be useful enough for them to send me some payment, especially given the time I spent waiting for it. (I didn't mention that I was doing other stuff while waiting.) I'll report back if I get any response from them.
I heard back from the researcher, they've given me a "bonus payment for the time you have invested" of 39p. Not impressed, as I waited 20 minutes for the damn thing to load, and 39p doesn't even cover the 5 minutes I spent actively doing the initial survey and reading the instructions before I ran into problems. Still, I suppose it's better than nothing - just.

Researchers at The University of Texas at Austin invite you to participate in a psychological study examining how people respond to health information.

My regular 6 am offering.  This morning it was just a string of questions with true or false answers, so nothing too straining for my pre caffeinated brain.

The effect of emotion-based diversification and visualization on user experience in recommendation systems

Dr. Mokryn and Dr. Knijnenburg invite you to participate in a research study. Dr. Mokryn is a professor at Haifa University, and Dr. Knijnenburg is a professor at Clemson University. This study aims to test a new recommender system for movies. Your participation in this study will be valued.

Something a little different that when first began looked like it was going to take a lot longer than the projected completion time, but it did not take that long in the end, taking into account that I had to switch browsers from Firefox to Chrome.

I'm currently on this one, and it's got to the stage where it's loading the main part of the study, and I'm just seeing a "Loading" message with spinning dots. Been waiting a couple of minutes. Did this section take a long time to load for you?
I managed to get this one to download....eventually! It took ages though. Then at the end there was no completion code anyway! I had to submit with a no code and no payment has come through yet.

Update: I've now been paid for this study. However I've had an email from the researcher to say my results didn't submit properly which is why I didn't get a completion code.  They said there was a problem with the servers their end. At least they paid as a gesture of goodwill!
