Study 2 - Job characteristics and work experiences

    By Anders Friis

I did the screening study for this earlier in the week. It is supposed to be part of a series of studies over the coming few days but I tried to access this first one just now and was blocked by my computer which picked up phishing malware on their site. I have told the researcher and reported it to Prolific.

It's really not my day today!  I just clicked on a study to do with the property rental market - there were 220 spaces available, but I immediately received a message to say that the study had "completed its quota". I doubt 219 other people clicked at the same time as me, but hey ho.

Just got a place on this study, but the page after clicking 'start study' is a qulatrics page asking for username and password which havn't been given in the blurb about the study. This is the second time I've seen this in as many weeks.  Has anyone else come across this and have they ever been given the details they need to 'log in'.  I have messaged the researcher but I can see that I'll probably have to return it.

Same problem for me with this one. I messaged the researcher but I got no reply after about 20 minutes so I returned it.

I also had this - the researcher never bothered to reply.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

In this study we would like to understand your preferences outside and inside of work. Please find more information in the survey link. I would like to thank you for participating in this project so far!

Just about to watch a movie and noticed an e-mail from Jim at prolific directing me to this one.

I would not usually complete a study at this time of night, but a change is as good as a rest as they say and glad that I did as it was not too taxing.

This study aims to develop tests for airline pilot recruitment. It consists of several test sections, each measuring a different ability or personality trait, such as mental arithmetic, leadership or working memory (for which you will need headphones). You must complete all sections and return a completion code to qualify for payment. Participation is anonymous. You will receive feedback on your scores to any questions that have correct answers.

Devices you can use to take this study:

    • Desktop

Yet another with lots of available places and then gives a try again later message.

Still there but now £4.44 per hour and 81 minutes. Obviously taking longer than expected.

So I left the timer ticking on this one after I saw the "Study Full" message, figuring the servers hosting it were at capacity as opposed to being a Gorilla \ Prolific sort of free spaces issue. Came back around 30 minutes later and was able to complete it (using the "Open study in new window").

Believe me when I say you didn't miss anything. It was really tedious, and had nothing whatsoever to do with being a pilot. It also took me nearly an hour and a half to get through, and for what was asked of participants, was really underpaying. Studies like that really ought to be paying £10+ in my opinion.
