If you are near the coast what about a walk on the beach, game of football and fish and chips. We did this once fr my dd's b'day in March it was freezing but great.
Also in this area the Local authority own a couple of country estate type places which are free to use in winter. Our nearest one is sewerby hall
http://www.eastriding.gov.uk/sewerby/
the grounds are open all year and it is free to go in winter. They have picnic tables etc so we sometimes have a "winter picnic" flasks of soup and hot drinks, nibbles etc and the kids love it. What about something like that?0 -

Mine is to stay away from red food/colourings/juice etc. Hyper..........0 -
Well whenever I have done kid's parties I find that things like carrot sticks, cucumber, sausage rolls, good old cheese and ham sandwiches, mini sausages, strips of mini pitta bread sliced with cheesy dips etc.
I have moved away from doing chicken nuggets and chips etc.
Another thing I have done is to theme the party. For example last year we had a 'Spongebob' party for my little girl and boy 4 and 5. We basically called the food stuff relating to spongebob. Ham rolls were 'crabby patties' etc.
HTH and good luck !!!!0 -
I find that finger foods that can be eaten in a couple of bites work best. Here I go again on my own....0

I asked my 6 year old daughter (will be 7 on the 13th Jan) whether she wanted a party for all her friends and 'hangers on' or a pair of Heelys (trainers with wheels for thse who don't know) and a trip to the cinema with two close friends.
Anyway, clever girl is wheeling round the kitchen whilst I am booking the trip to see 'Night at the Museum'. I'm too old and too wise to give a stuff about what other mums do or think!!!The best things in life are free.....or at least discounted!!!0 -

My dd school hires out the hall for £25 and this is for 2 hours and a disco included (bottle of port for the dj). Its great as so far she has been to about 20 parties here and its not costing a fortune.
Shes having 40 kids and it will cost a total of about £60 for the hall, food and bags.:j :j0
