Aren't the party bags a hint for people to go home:rolleyes:

That's what I'd hoped. DH said we should start turning lights on and off to give people a hint!
  • This may be a little late - but as my daughters birthday is in January I tend to buy left over selection boxes and dismantle them for the party bags. A couple of good bars of choc costs only a few pence when wrapped in a 'Christmas' design. I got 10 such boxes at 57p each from Sainsburys. Also last few days of the ssales are good for bargain hunters. I got some invisible ink/torch spiderman pens from Debenhams reduced to 90p from £3 each. I much prefer to give just one thing in a party bag that you know the child will like, rather than the usual pen/pencil's etc. Last year I found a job lot of mini kites and mega bubbles in WHS for 99p each. the should have been £2.99! It's worth looking out for those bargains when the sales are on.

    Happy hunting!

my 12 year old is going to be giving Kangol bath bomb sets to her friends as party gifts, had been £6 reduced to £1.50 and bought with boots points so a cheap but fab pressie for teens!

I got the local community centre this sunday really cheap.

I have invited 20 children and still haven't had any replies.

I planning to do Cheese sandwiches and ham sandwiches (mixture of white and brown bread), Sausage rolls, pizza, vegetable chow mein, crisps, fairy cakes.

Drinks Squash, Apple and Orange juice.

Games pass the parcel, pin the tail on the donkey, musical chairs.

The party is 2 hours and I need some more ideas to fill it out.

    Thanks
  • I am a glutton for punishment and usually have about 40 kids in the garden in June for my DD birthday. I must admit I do like organising everything but I find the worst nightmare is party bags!!! last year instead of buying 40 of everything i had lucky dips at the end. a lot were things from claire's out of the grab bags and other things were toileteries and cheap things i had picked up from Boots! This year as she will be 12 i am not having party bags!

a good game is guess how many sweets in the bottle! the winner gets the sweets.

another good game is picking things out of a box of shredded paper but get the kids to put their hands in wobbly jelly and flour first. Depends how much mess you want to have.

another game we always play at the end is pick the rubbish up and the one that gets the most gets a prize!!

    i just love parties!
    Just about to give up!

For my dd 4th bday(not till May) I've bought Tesco beakers with a lid and a straw with cows on £1 each and will fill them with mini chocolate bars (so no party bags), I got fed up of all the junk in their party bags which ends up in the bin, not very eco friendly, Last year went to wilco and got packets of sunflower seeds which went down well.

Last year and this we're going to get a bouncy castle, tried doing games last year but they just wanted to bounce so won't bother this year.:T
    Good luck
Would love to be a "Yummy Mummy" but more a "Slummy Mummy"!!:rotfl: :rotfl:

I would like to put taks in between the pass the parcel layers but I'm stuck for 4-5 year olds.

So far I've come up with do 5 star jumps. Rub your head & tummy.
I though of sing a nursery rhyme but they may be a little shy.

    Any ideas?

They are much more ec-friendly and no plastic rubbish!
