I do hope you can help?

I am organising LO's 1st birthday party(how that time flew!).He is not one til end of Jan but need to get it sorted as we are away for 3 and a half weeks over Xmas.

We are hiring a play room with 3 other babies, they all share their birthdays within a few days of each other so it seems logical to share a date. None of us have that much room to accommodate babies and adults at home, especially as it is Winter.

We will keep food simple etc and plan to do this ourselves. Ideas?

Theme-we are pobably doing a 'Dear Zoo' theme, any thoughts as what to do on this. I am at a loss at present and am hoping for inspiration. I hope to do my own invites, for example.

We will take along CD player, toys ourselves to occupy the littlies. balloons?

I want to keep this party simple and relatively cheap, but also want it to be special.

Can't wait to hear your creative ideas :D

    Thanks in advance for help,

    JT x
    It's great in here! :)
  • Only just remembered I put this here :(

Prudent I love the pass the parcel idea...what kind of forfeits did you put in?
Not in debt at the moment, but been there in the past and realise I'm the kind of person who could easily fall back into it with the self destructing spending button so making sure I keep on top of being a good girl.

It is my daughters birthday soon and am planning on inviting 6 girls aged between 9 and 11. Food wise I was thinking of doing pizza, dips, sandwiches etc. However, I have no idea how to entertain them all for 3 hours. They are a bit old for pass the parcel!

I have a budget of around £60 for the whole thing, food, decoration, entertainment. Any ideas? Also, what kind of things do you put in party bags at this age?

I have never had a party at home and usually go out, but we can't afford it this year.

    Thanks for any help.

My DD (11) had her 10th & 11th party at home. She invited about 6 girls each time. She has a karaoke machine and dance mats so they just took over the dining room and entertained themselves.

I just put out a few dishes of crisps and bottles of pop and ordered takeaway pizza for them. Dessert was birthday cake.

I did do it in the evening so they felt more grown up. From about 5.30pm to 9.30pm.

Party bags should be easy - trawl the sales for nice pens and make up. A few mini choc bars and you are done.

  • hi.my daughter is nine. For her birthday we had a chockie fountain(borrowed from a friend) which was a real hit.Used things like strawberies n grapes to dip in the chockie.Thre girls loved it but it was quite messy so dont recommend using it with younger kids.I also agree with the dance mats...we used them too.

As for party bags......claires acccessories often have lucky dip bag type thingies.....my daughter is addicted to these.....they often do them bogof.Girls will worship them!
  • Could also do a make up/ beauty evening.

Ask friends and relatives (and look through your old stuff) -most ladies have some old colours they no longer use- and do make overs.

As long as their mums don't mind -and they are not allergic to anything.

Also have a sleep over if you can stand it for longer!

monsoon have lots of girly gifts on sale especially their pens at halfprice- i saw 2 litle girls admiring them 2day. also boots and tescos have litlle gifts at 3 4 2 at halfprice or you could buy a gift set with small items and split the items.keyrings are a good idea 2- doesnt have 2 b party bags you could put the items in small baskets and let them choose &swap.
I saw a bubble machine at £3 in debenhams pink gift section 2day reduced from £10-would add abit of fun.

if u asked a virgin rep in your area im sure they would do it cheaply for you and you would get 15% commission if adults bought and you could give catalgoues out to people you know before hand, and you dont need to have a party at home for yourself.

  • Have you thought about a 50,s themed night with Dirty Dancing on dvd and sleepover. Girls love this with pizza and makeovers and girlie chat if you can bear 8 girls next morning with hardly any sleep!

Alternativley you could ask a body shop rep the do a facial party for you and have mothers of girls as well at the beggining and you all get to try the facepacks and stuff in pyjamas and have a little drinky! You might make a bit for yourself to and then let girlies watch dvd's all night and gossip. Boots have some Fab half price bargains today along with claires that would make Fab Party Bags. Hope this helps BBx
