"Special Offer" flights don't attract the £5 online check in fee - they've got to be available at the advertised price. However some fares with the fee can work out cheaper if they've cut or reduced the taxes and charges portion which I have seen so don't just restrict yourself to looking at the specials.

Why the hell is the least 'environmentally friendly' means of transport the cheapest?
  • am trying to opn the page as on the latest newsletter email 10th June 2009 - not having any joy. Any ideas?

In some ways the cheap prices ensure that the planes are flying quite full - so the price makes them _more_ environmentally friendly!

But I agree. Train fares should be capped at the cheapest airfare for the same journey.

Probably just busy, I was printing out boarding cards this morning and the Ryan Air website was quite slow, try again later.

Yes, the websites seemed to have had a number of problems today, and it errored after I'd given my Visa Electron details for my £2 return flight to Cork in August :D Still it has given me chance to see what some others have encountered, and why some have booked tickets twice!

This is the error message you get.
Error - Your session has been locked

We are experiencing some difficulties with the website. Please wait 10 seconds and if you are not redirected back click here.
If you have already submitted payment your new reservation or flight change MAY have been confirmed.
Before starting again please firstly check your email account to see if you have received an email travel itinerary or alternatively you can check to see if your transaction processed by going to Manage Booking section of our website and completing the information required in Option 3.

So you should always check the manage booking section before re-booking flights you may have already booked!

I have been unable to find any special offer fares that don't charge the online booking fee - for example:

    SPECIAL OFFER
    Depart:
    Girona (Barcelona) 15:15
    Arrive:
    Bournemouth 16:10
    1xAdult0.00GBP
    Fare: 0.00GBP
    Online Check-In:
    5.00GBP
    Taxes / Fees: 5.00
    GBPTotal Price: 10.00GBP

Surely this is false advertising, even Martin's acticle confirms:

"However, if you book a flight during one of these special 'free/1p', '£1' or '£5' flight promotions, the online check-in fee will be waived."

Has anybody else had better luck?
