If you always book a lot of seats when they are free and then fail to turn up at the airport? (Either some or all of your party fail to turn up)

If you paid £100 for a flight and didnt turn up i dont think ryanair would mind so im sure it works both ways- its not as though havnt paid the advertised price for the flight(if they want to offer flights at 1p thats their choice !!)

Ive just booked 4 sameday return flights from Bristol to Dublin- online check in-electron card etc. total price 8p.
Nice cheap birthday Day out with friends -a few pints of guinnes-bus tour around the city-spot of lunch-couple more pints -home for 10pm -Bargain
    Cheers...........

Can anyone help answer. Flying Sun online check in and hand luggage.I have now discoverer I need to bring back study books from spain for my hubby. As I am do not know the weight of the books it might put me over on the return leg. I will not know until I get there. Do I need to change my booking before my outward journey or will I be able to do it when in spain for the return leg if I need to.
  • I just flew Ryanair 3 times in one month and was appalled that I had to pay a check in fee at the airport for every flight I took with Ryanair. The check in fee was more than the total cost of the flight! However, this fee is completely refundable. The Ryanair staff won't volunteer this information to you. I only found out when I asked how I could avoid the charge in the future. I was given an address in Ireland and told to write a letter. It's been a couple weeks and I have already received a refund for one of the flights. But when you do, make sure you keep all receipts and send copies of them with your letter for support. This may not work for everyone, as there are stipulations to it, but they are listed on the website. It's worth a try anyway. Hope this helps someone!

I've never paid a check-in fee at the airport - I take only hand luggage and do on-line check in for free.

are you saying that you can get the check-in fee refunded even if you take hold luggage?

    From http://www.ryanair.com/site/EN/faqs.php?sect=chk&quest=whoco
The following passengers do not qualify for Online Check-In:
    • Passengers travelling with checked baggage
    • Children aged between 14 to 17 years travelling alone
    • Passengers travelling with infants (*)
    • Passengers travelling with mobility equipment (including children's pushchairs)
    • Passengers with reduced mobility, blind/vision impaired passengers including those travelling with a sighted companion or guide dog (*)
    • Passengers who require special assistance at the airport (*)
    • Online Check-In is not available from Romanian or Moroccan airports.
    • Passengers travelling on a passport which is due to expire within 30 days from the date of travel.
    • When there are more than 9 passengers booked in a reservation
    • Passengers travelling on the same reservation with a passenger who is not entitled to Online Check-in.
    • Passengers who have booked and extra seat for the carriage of musical instruments etc. or for comfort.
Where a passenger is unable to avail of online check-in by reason only of a matter marked (*) above, any airport check-in fee paid will be refunded at the time the special services are requested or upon application. Where a passenger is unable to avail of online check-in by reason only of not being the holder of either a valid passport or a National Identity Card, issued by the government of an EU/EEA country, any airport check-in fee paid will be refunded upon application. A refund of the airport check-in fee is only applicable to the person unable to avail of the service and not all passengers in the reservation.
So... passengers with babies, guide dogs, or people who require special assistance can get their checkin fees refunded.
But NOT those with luggage to check in - see the word "only" which I bolded for emphasis

Thanks for that, scubabe, I remember seeing that now.

So sharbo must have been within one of those 3 categories asterisked and to say
However, this fee is completely refundable
is not true for everyone who pays for check in.

So I can have my airport check in fees refunded because I didn't have a passport and used a driving license? Thats how it sounds anyway!

Thats how I'd interpret it myself - though I don't know how they'd be able to check this was the reason, they won't know that you don't have a passport other than you telling them, and I'm not sure whether they'd keep a record of whether you used your passport for travel or not.
Certainly there's probably quite a few passenger's who've been eligible for a refund without realising they could.
Personally I'm happy I've been able to book return flights for 1p each way to Dublin for a day trip - feels like you're getting one up on them given its going to cost them overall (as long as I don't splash out with the onboard food and drinks).

They should just let you use your driving license for online check in anyway, all they do is look at it and wave you through!
But then again, if very few people know this rule, all the more money for Ryanair isn't it
