  • I am trying to move from E7E, they have blocked my move, as I owe them money. My meter stopped working in November, this was reported to them immediately, after numerous emails, useless trying to call them they never answer, finally they changed the meter on the 13th Feb! The story continues I am afraid, they put in a standard meter, we are on an economy 7 tariff. We called them the next day to tell them the wrong meter had been installed, still waiting for it to be changed. I have raised 2 complaints with them during this period. Neither are resolved with any satisfaction. As I have no faith in them and as they wanted to put my DD to £250 a month I stopped my DD. Do not trust this company and my advice is do not switch to them.
  • Well we have our switch over to EDF fixed rate suppose3dly done on 28th february.
EDF tell me that as of 28th Feb they are our new supplier.

Not a peep from Eco7, i had an online word with their operator and I got a confirmation which I saved and had it sent to my email as a confirmation. I put a meter reading in on that day and sent it to both suppliers. As usual ECO7 had estimated the bill, they always do as they are incapable of acting on actual readings. And of course its inaccurate.
My Direct debit went out on the billing date and i think we are about even on what we owed but they just can't produce a bill, nor have they credited my account with the DD that has gone in.

As others have said, they appear to be both incompetent and i suspect their business ethics may leave something to be desired.

I shall watch carefully how this switch goes. EDF are no angels but when we were with them before they were always efficient to deal with provided we gave them up to date information from meter reads etc. And at least their online system can react to a reading given within a few days whereas ECO7 seem to have a system that can not adapt at all in real time.
I can't wait to be shot of them, and I've never seen price rate increases as exponential as this lot.

I would have avoided them like the plague had I realised before signing up that they were owned by the same outfit as Fischer heaters. Nuff said.
    Avoid!

Fortunately I cancelled my DD as soon as I submitted my application to my new supplier, so they only owe me about £38.

With everything being computerised there's simply no reason for any company to take almost three months to return a credit balance.

I've complained to the Energy Ombudsman, largely to make sure their stats reflect customers' concerns; a complaint to the bank would probably fail because Eco7 gave notice of the DD hike, and there's nothing in the DD Ts & Cs to stop them sitting on a large credit balance.

If Ofgem weren't so useless they'd mandate that a switch to a new company should be completed by the end of the next working day. They'd also mandate that all companies should offer variable direct debits, and then all this nonsense of companies building up credit balances to the detriment of customers couldn't happen.

    I can Gerry1; with Foxy E7E’s systems.
They changed things so rapidly, that even the computers could not keep up.

On a more serious note however, for those who may be thinking of leaving in debt and cancelling their DD should be made aware that by doing so there is the risk that the exiting company can legitimately charge a fee of £25-£50 to have it reinstated to recover the money owed (quote from bank).

Do try to plan your leave date and It would be prudent to get agreement on your leaving terms before proceeding with gung-ho actions. No point in creating aggravation, unless you thrive on it; take the easiest and quickest way out.

As far as OFGEM is concerned they are like most politicians, they don’t have to live in the real world, but they know what is good for us.

According to the manager, I can't recall her name at present, they will definitely be responding with their final resolution of my complaint by the 26th March at the very latest. Which means they have until midnight tonight, think they'll contact me or not?!

    No surprise, they didn't.

Well, I finally obtained the refund of my credit balance, some 10 weeks after the new supplier took over. They took it right to the wire.

Glad to see that MSE is now warning potential customers from signing up to Economy 7 Energy, Outfox The Market, Fischer Energy etc !

Yet another confusing email received today from E7E, they failed to collect my DD due to their technical error... and I also note that they have again increased the DD, this time to £113 despite stating this wouldnt happen until 28th April....

Plus in my attempt to get a more realistic DD by submitting photos of meter reading each month, they still decline to reduce the DD to the more appropriate £55 a month (I track and calculate monthly usage myself)

Not left me with much option but to proceed with a switch, but no doubt theyll reject it as they still havent collected a DD since before Xmas (despite me contacting them a couple of times and re-instating it myself with the bank) leaving me with a £132 debit on my account - thanks for that.

    Hopeless lot :(
  • I've been with E7E since August 2018, and overall I've been unimpressed by their service.

It's pretty clear that they are flapping around trying to figure out how to stay in business. The DD fiasco no doubt has been done to death in this thread. My DD has been all over the place over the past few months, no idea what is going on.

They don't seem to be able to read my smart meter for some reason. Maybe I have one of the older generation that is locked to the supplier who fitted it, I have no idea.

Anyway I think that once this months DD comes out and clears my current balance I will be moving to someone else.
  • I have been with Eoconmy 7 Energy, or Fischer Energy or whatever they are called, since Sep 18 - boy am I glad I am finally clear of them cowboys! Quote & Transfer all good but then 3 months in they decided to change their pricing structure to being 6mths of winter payments and 6mths of summer. Nastily nestled in the mix we’re price hikes and three within as many months. The direct debit was increased “accordingly” and rocketed from 74pcm to 181pcm! None of which was based on my history or meter readings even though the usage tracker in my account proved otherwise, and they simply would not adjust the direct debit. I threatened them with cancelling the direct debit and they finally adjusted me down to £126. I have eventually got away from them now and ended up with a 314 refund, which would have only kept creeping up if I had stayed with them - crooks!!
