Being slightly mischievous, I would suggest that the double interest issue is not a "problem" to be avoided, except for VM who do not seem at all keen to avoid it. I have had the double interest "problem" on each of Issues 1 to 4 of the Regular E Saver (Issue 4 was slightly different, but still resulted in a small overpayment), as well as on the Matchday Regular Saver. The first three times I contacted VM to point out the problem, but have since given up. The over payment has, on all occasions, been written off in my favour. It is in fact a bonus! Not, of course, that I would do anything to engineer it happening with E RS 5

Alas, I have never had this overpayment....now wondering whether I can engineer it.....:)

Or can I claim compo for never having benefited from this mistake....:rotfl:

I may be wrong, and feel free to correct me, but those who are going to close and transfer their VM Reg E-Saver Issue 5 account later tonight are likely to have 'double interest' issues. If I recall correctly, to avoid this problem you should close the account on 21st June.

Does it matter where the funds are transferred to? For example, would a transfer to an account with Virgin which is a maturity one from a previous Reg E-saver result in this annoying and frustrating problem? Thanks for the remainder and help to avoid such difficulties.

Don't know, never had one :)

Go for Gold and Sports Saver were both 4% and were taken off sale in September 2016.

I don't think that matters. I think it's to do with the timing of closure i.e. if you close it early whilst there are uncleared transactions.

On trying to close mine I just got an error message: Unfortunately we cannot process this request, as the selected account has uncleared transactions. You can view these transactions within your statement.

It'll clear within the next hour or two.
