A basic question which would make my life easier - must my monthly payment always be paid in on the same day of the month or later?

IE. MY first payment was made on 16th of the month so I can't pay in till the earliest the 16 of the following month or can I pay it in on the 1st of the following month?

    Which account?

Most (e.g. Virgin) allow the payment to be made on any day of the month, defining month as 1st to 28th/29th/30th/31st of the month.

I've just received the maturity paperwork for my Nottingham BS Starter ISA Issue 7. The pack includes details for the new Starter ISA Issue 8 account for the 2018/19 tax year.

The details appear unchanged from Issue 7 - an initial deposit of up to £2400 in April followed by monthly contributions of up to £1600. Sadly the interest rate is also unchanged from 2.25% (variable).

For anyone not using their ISA allowance on anything better, this account might offer another convenient regular savings account. I've not decided whether to open one myself though, I'll wait until Ford decide what to do with all their maturing 4% accounts.

I was told it's a security check when I experienced the same message. Phoned and they unlocked my withdrawal access on the account.

Apparently because I changed the nominated account recently.
Thank you! I'll contact them and get it sorted

Any day of the month is fine. You could open an account today (23rd March) then make another payment on the 1st April. You can (and many people here do) make 14 payments into these Virgin accounts if you open them at the right time.

Then you should pay in on the first of the month to maximise the amount of money gaining interest at 2.25%
  • Hi Everybody,

I have made the following change for this weekend's update.

    - Virgin Money Regular E-Saver issue 9 replaced with issue 10, same details as before but new maturity date of 20th April 2019

I usually leave the regular savings ISA accounts alone as they are covered in Kazza's cash ISAs thread.

I will do another update next weekend.

Hi - I am wondering if by any chance you will be good enough to briefly describe maturity options? :-) I am abroad returning on 28th and will likely have lots and lots stuff to do...

    Option 1 - Fixed Rate ISA Issue 33, 1.4% until 14 May 2020
Option 2 - Internal transfer to existing Notts account
    Option 3 - Withdraw funds

Or the default option (4?), the account matures into an Easy Access ISA Issue 2 at 1.2%.
