Yes. I pay in my £250 in cash at the store on opening the account and then create a SO for the 1st of the following month until further notice. Hassle free, particularly for you!
I was about to rasie the cash-free store factor but Frogletina beat me to it. :)

The other thing to bear in mind is Virgin's recent change to their ID requirements. Even if you are an existing customer you may be asked randomly (i.e. every time) to present two forms of ID each time you open an account.

I can't see how changes to the Regular Saver drive the decision. More to the point is the general degradation of the 123 products.

I was planning on ditching it when the reg saver matures, which is in August I think, but if I can get out now and save myself paying £25-£30 in fees then it seems a no brainer

How difficult is it to stick passport and driving licence into your pocket/handbag? Takes me six seconds, with a following wind.

Why not downgrade to the Everyday account? No fees and you still get access to the 5% RS for its remaining term which will revert to 3% when you next renew.

Obviously move balance somewhere else too!

That's dead easy to do, if you have a passport or driving licence.

Not so easy if you have intricate hiding places for your ID in case of burglary etc.

It finally arrived at 14:00! Still 2.25%. Maturity date is 20 April 2019.

Don't all rush - the website is already slowing down at 14:12. I completed two applications and by the time I finished the second, each page change was grindingly slow.
