It seems you need a current account for all the 5% offers.0

"Special conditions: You must have a Cumberland BS current account."
Now Try to open a current account with them if you are not living in their operating areas.
It is also already discussed on MSE.

Thing has not changed since then
My point is that you don't find out about the geographical restrictions until you start researching the product yourself, which is what happened to me.
The information in Post #5 leads me to believe that I could open both the current account and the regular saver as long as I could get to a branch, which isn't the case.
If this had been mentioned here, I could have scratched the account from my shortlist straight away. I still think it would be helpful to mention the geographical restrictions here.
Only trying to be helpful, and save others going down the same blind alley that I've just been down :-)0 -

Dead horse, mate - it was crystal at your first post.0 -
I understand that all of the VM Regular Saver eSaver has increased from 2.25% to 2.5%. I also found the email sent to me confirming this.
I remember that this is also the case to old branch regular saver, but I could not find any of my documentation confirming this.
Is it correct that the old branch regular saver (not newly open) is now paying 2.5%. Thanks0 -

You can see details of all old VM savings accounts on the link below.

Halifax & Bank Of Scotland Regular Saver
I see both Halifax and Bank of Scotland have REDUCED their regular saver from 2.5% to 2.0% (fixed) for new accounts. Existing ones continue at 2.5%. It also seems that NO withdrawals allowed during the year for the Halifax version although BofS do allow withdrawals.0 -

You couldn't withdraw Halifax at 2.5% either.0 -
Lloyds have reduced there normal monthly saver to 2% and the Club Lloyds monthly saver from 3% to 2.5%.0

My two existing both mature on December 1st. If that's the rate of the continuation I won't be continuing. I'm not being tied in to 2% for 12 months.0 -

Similar position to yourself - don't think I'll be renewing the Halifax one at 2%.
However, I still consider the Lloyds 2% and BoS 2% regular savers as good savings accounts when you consider them as easy access accounts (albeit with small monthly deposits).
Think I'll continue as long as they remain easy access and providing other easy access accounts are below 2%.:grouphug:Official MSE canny forumite and HUKD VIP badge member
