Fiscal Fast Day 187
Oh dear, I'm not complaining but car boot sales and auctions are taking over our lives :rotfl:
From last Friday until today (Friday) we have been to 2 car boot sales and 2 auctions - we are definitely hooked
Today it was a trip up to Truro where we bid on just 2 lots and won them both at less than we were prepared to go up to, which was a result
A visit to Waitrose bagged us a couple of free coffees as well as some RTC stir fry and noodles. How I love the quality of Waitrose food at super low prices.
This afternoon saw us watching Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again which we thoroughly enjoyed and averaged at £6 a head which I didn't think was bad.
Is anyone else looking forward to seeing it?"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
Fiscal Fast Day 188
When it comes to writing up my fast on here, I have been selective as to what I can include in my fast - for example I don't take into account monthly Direct Debits or Standing Orders (which I have paired back as much as I possibly can :j ) Neither do I record fuel or other car expenditure as a car is a necessity for my work and also living where we do.
So today is a NSD but I must tell you about a car expenditure that was a fabulous deal
Before our first wedding, we have to renew our car breakdown cover. It expired in June but as we have only been driving locally we have not renewed it yet.
I couldn't believe my luck this morning when I checked my e-mails and Quidco were offering me an EXTRA £20 on top of their commission for taking out breakdown cover
We snapped their hand off, got a great deal With Green Flag and we have decided to spread the cost monthly.
It is peace of mind and it won't dent our savings too much "One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
Fiscal Fast Day 189
We were very close to going to Hayle Car Book Sale today but the weather was sweltering and therefore we decided that a trip to the beach was much more favourable :rotfl: Today we chose to go to Gwithian, a stunning beach by Godrevy Lighthouse

As we had a family BBQ planned, before the beach we called in at Bookers - they did not let us down with their RTCs. We continued on to Lidl and spent way too much money - £70  Admittedly my hubby did buy 2 pairs of shorts but £70 (double shock -:eek: )"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
Fiscal Fast Day 190
Normally I can almost guarantee a NSD on a Monday but not today. My Monday work trip to Tesco saw me checking the RTCs and getting many bargains. A shop just shy of £7 wasn't too bad"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
Fiscal Fast Day 191
You would think that we would not need any more food shopping with what we have spend in the last week but sadly you'd be wrong
We have a very important day tomorrow and we need a packed lunch. Now I know that you can make your own sandwiches, salad etc but I think the Morrison's meal deal for £3 is amazing. I always get the medium salad from the salad bar and then when I get home, I split it into 2 for two different meals. My husband has the drink (Dr Pepper) and the snack (usually a naughty cake) and so I think their deal is a real bargain.
We also visited Tesco and picked up their 4 batons / baguettes for a £1 which we partly had for lunch. Warmed up in the oven, we will have the other half for lunch another day
I also ordered a special pair of socks for my hubby to wear with his suit - Father Of The Groom and the date of our son's wedding.
and then the purse was firmly closed shut :rotfl:"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -

Fiscal Fast Day 192
Up at 5am and out by 5.30am, a shock to the system
DD2 already has a First Class Honours Degree in Maths and needed to be in Exeter at 9am for an interview for teacher training.
Whilst she was at the Uni, hubby and I visited IKEA - very dangerous for the purse strings :rotfl:
We had planned on having IKEA breakfast (which we thoroughly enjoyed) and spent an hour browsing the store. Before IKEA Exeter was built this year, our nearest IKEA to us was at Bristol which is a three and a half hour drive away.
So taking all this into account I think we got away lightly with a spend of about £7
and best of all - DD2 has been offered a place :j
On the way home, we called in at Iceland and picked up some bits and bobs for the freezer including some lollies which were VERY well received on such a hot day"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
TM6 if your in the cooling off period for green flag, you might want to look into their set up first, there might be good on price but its not on service especially in rural areas as they are not like RAC/AA with there own crew but outsource to local garages and recovery services so you could be waiting a long time if they are busy, and its possibility the garage you get is not one that you'd be happy using, if you get my drift0

Fiscal Fast Day 192
A work day and a very LSD, very nearly a NSD but a RTC of ready made custard (lazy I know) for 55p was the only purchase for today.
Way to go "One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0
