Buy some puff pastry, put squares into muffin cases, fill with Camembert & top with cranberry sauce & a bit of rosemary.

Sounds delicious 🤤 I need to buy a jar of cranberry sauce & some Camembert :rotfl I have the puff pastry & hg rosemary ;)

More waste but this time egg mayonnaise that DSis bought - several days past use by date

Made cottage pie - enough for 2 nights’ dinners for 3 + same amount to be frozen :T

    Hello everyone

Thanks for this thread, I love the creativity!

I’m just working through a mountain of old potatoes from Christmas

I’ve parboiled and goose fatted the king Edwards for the freezer

Just making a batch of samosa with standard old potatoes but I can’t think what to do with the baby new potatoes that are sprouting and would freeze well. Any ideas?

    TIA 😊

How about Austrian potato salad. Takes a fair bit of time to make but is mayonnaise free :)

Dinner was cheeseburgers & oven chips from the freezer. Nothing thrown away :j

    Thanks Mrs SD

I Actually went ahead and made/froze a huge batch of corned beef hash. Not sure what the pots will be like once reheated but sure it will be edible

went and got another small shop today after History club ,very pleased as I spent just under £14.00 and have more than enough to get me through next week, only bought essentials ,but managed to bag five reduced chilli chicken thighs from MrT's at £2.20.That will do me five decent dinners either with salad or mash and veg and they are really big ones. so a real bargain So far this month I have only spent just under £24.00 on food stuff and I have lots of decent dinners still in the freezer.

I so dropped off this last year but this year I have taken a big audit of my food stash and am currently using up freezer and cupboard stash.

Tonight, as I am marking and have no time to cook from scratch, I used half a joint of YS pork, stuck it in gravy with some onions and herbs and a dollop of redcurrant jelly. Diced up slightly dodgy sweet and baby potatoes with some rosemary and garlic. Roasted. Served with part baked baguettes (YS). More importantly I made up the dodgy packet of stuffing mix (and took out sausage meat to add to it for tomorrow). My shopping list is teensy for this week. Never seen it so small and I am utterly thrilled!

Went to my eldest Dds tonight for dinner I took a nice trifle for pudding ,made from jelly, custard and sponge fingers all from my cupboards indoors She made a delicious shepherd's pie for her ,her OH, myself and her Ma-in-law. Its two years tomorrow since her ma-in-law lost her OH so we were all on a family 'Keep Margaret happy evening 'as DD had picked her up and brought her down for the weekend from London where she lives. .

Lovely meal, and lots of cheerful chatter .DD had some left-over shepherd's pie which I brought home with me ,so that's Monday nights dinner sorted as I popped it into the freezer when I got home .

DD also gave me a handful of onions as she had bought a bagful from somewhere and had run out of room in her freezer ,so I will be peeling and dicing tomorrow morning for my freezer :) also she gave me a big bottle of perfume that she decided se wasn't keen on ,and it's really nice Its called Couture and it was an impulse buy when she was in NYC visiting my DGS before Christmas.

She has a tendency when she is out there to impulse buy then decides when she gets home ,perhaps it's not for her Its quite a light one and she is really an 'Opium' lady
But all donations are gratefully received :) She gave me a present to give to my new little gt.granddaughter when I go to visit .
My eldest works pretty long hours as a PA to a director and she is also doing a degree in business studies in her spare time :) if you heard the expression 'If you want something done find a busy person 'that's my Shelley:) .She is always rushing around so I don't get the chance to see her too often.

Tonight was lovely though . She has been having a declutter in her house so I came home with some odd bits and pieces Her OH is decorating their house from the top down now my DGD has moved into her own house so decluttering is top of Shelley's agenda .I also came home with of all things a big bag of Christmas baubles which will go to the CS at some point over the next few days.I have more than enough of my own :) plus a couple of those hand washing bottles for my car as she for some reason had ended up with 4 of them :) so a mixed bag of goodies all of which I will find a use for :)and a box of posh mince pies left over from Christmas which are long dated to mid February .They will go with me to my charity quiz night next Saturday with my team, as we all take bits and pieces for a communal feast on quiz night

Right just going off to bed now for a read of my book
Night Night, God bless all here

Very happy to have done a complete inventory of the freezer yesterday, now for the menu planning ideas stage. With the amount of food in our freezer our food shopping should be pretty low for some months to come.

    On Boxing Day I split the turkey up into;

4 bags of breast meat and 2 pie dishes, each with the leg meat in them ready for a topping.

On Friday I defrosted one pie dish, added some turkey gravy, peas and some left over veg (the last of some red wine too) to the meat and topped it with mash potato, with a sprinkling of leftover Xmas hard cheese. Popped it in the oven for 40 minutes and it was soooo tasty. We had it Friday and finished it off last night.

Already looking forward to repeating this with the other leg!

OH and I are planning on reducing our meat consumption in 2020, so as the freezer stocks reduce we will be moving over to meat substitutes (have 2x meat free mince and 2x veggie sausages in freezer YS of course) and have picked up a few vegetarian cook books from chazzer shops.

Wondering if our freezer will ever be as full as it is now once we have moved to eating less meat?

Anyway, off to meal plan and check out my (too many) cook books for some recipes with a nice cup of coffee, happy Sunday MSEers!
