It weren't me yer honour....honest...'twasn't me experimenting with my pressure cooker.

Most of the country won't know what I'm on about - but those in the west of the country might well. The Welsh Facebook pages are now full of chat of everyone asking everyone else if they felt the earthquake. It was near Swansea and map shows it was felt as far to the east as London and I expect Pastures felt it (as it went down pretty much to the toe of Cornwall).

Felt it here, I wondered why my filing cabinet was rattling, even went to check outside to see if some heavy digging had started. Can we now wear "Earthquake Survivor" T shirts?:)

Up early, could not get back to sleep. Early breakfast of HM yoghurt + honey, followed by chunk of HM bread pud. This one is a good 'un, and sort of healthy, no added nasties anyway, plus dried fruit = good stuff

Lunch is going to be some of the YS mini sausage rolls, dibbed in brown sauce I think.

As you can see I'm not on a diet as such, but have lost over 7lbs since New Year and my trousers are feeling slacker. I find that sometimes food is not appealing once faffed around, plus CBA at times. Maybe write a book, "dieting the CFO way"?

You can tell that I'm more awake than yesterday - whoops think I got my maths wrong and it's 5 miles per day of walking (not 5 miles per week) that burns off 1 lb of weight. Back to the drawing board.....:o

.....and not thought what to eat today yet....

I did wonder as even with my low levels of mobility I manage at least12 miles a week and no the weight isn't dropping off.....;)

Sounds as though you've had a good time PN:)

Gentle start this morning with a cuppa and toast/fruit while reading the paper on-line:). I'm now waiting for an order to arrive - should be here anytime in the next hour or so.

I've defrosted a small chicken crown as I fancy chicken & sweetcorn soup this week. Still deciding between chinese style or chowder. I'll pop it in the slow cooker in a bit. I'll use the juices and some of the meat for the soup and the rest of it for lunches.

Lunch will be a roll with lorne and flat mushroom. I've a pork steak defrosted for dinner tonight:)
  • I'm not sure if CBA to make the veggie roast dinner now.:D

I just had a few crackers with PB and then a bowl of cherry toms, olives and gherkins.

  • oh I have standing-up backache, first sit down with a drink. I made 6 ready meals for the freezer, gone into small enamel dishes so can go into oven or microwave if I plop into a ceramic bowl. Plus one small portion for last meal, I bulked the casserole with spelt pearls and it is nice and thick, a spoon meal

Two types of scones are finished, cinnamon buns into the oven in a mo, crumble topping made and frozen, a compote of apple and blackcurrant is made to freeze in small portions. Have made a ham omlette salad and will be leaving a nice raisin scone out for the afternoon. Washed some cherries for a snack. Phew, I am glad I did all that, it has set me up for a good few meals, snacks and puddings. Any good films on tv this afternoon? I will be putting my feet up never fear, could even look at one of my many filmss on a laptop on my knee while I sit on the sofa sideways with a large cushion behind my back

Sounds as though a sit down is well deserved:).

My order has arrived so I've no excuse now not to be getting on with my chores. Might have another cuppa first though ;)

I think I will start doing that too. :)I bought some oats the other day and still haven't touched them. If they are ready to eat in a bowl in the morning I am much more likely to eat them.:p

I know I have frozen berries and apples and bananas that can go in.

I do love them, I bought a glass kilner jar from the £1 shop to take them to work, my usual is 60g oats soaked overnight with 200mls soya milk, if I'm using frozen fruit I pop that in overnight too otherwaise I chop the fruit in the morning, in the morning I add 250g of 0% greek yoghurt or skyr :)
it's all measured out because I calorie and macro count but the above is around 500 cals depending on the fruit

  • My next task is to go and make a batch of sandwiches for the freezer for work lunches over the next week!
Being on my own, I struggle to manage a whole loaf of bread (I only have a tiny freezer so freezing isn't practical). So now I buy those sandwich thins that come in packs of 6. I do some sort of meat as filling and then pop them in the freezer in individual little baggies! Then pull them out the night before, then they are room-temperature (as I like them), by lunch time.
To stop them going soggy, I just add a quarter of a paper towel and that absorbs any extra moisture. Works brilliantly!

Breakfast today was two fried eggs on toast, and coffee.
Not sure about lunch, maybe just a few strawbs/grapes that need eating up.
Dinner will be the second portion of yesterdays slow cooker bolognaise, which was delicious yesterday! I just need to do a bit more spaghetti with it today... There wasn't quite enough yesterday to satisfy... For some reason, I find it really hard to judge the quantity when it's still dry!
Because it's fun to have money!

lunch was half a camembert I had for 50p in L1dl yesterday with some carrot sticks :)

I need some advice, I've got a large post of green soup on the go, broccolli, cabbage, leeks, peas, courgette and lentils, it will make 5 portions but I can't decide wether to add coconut milk or single cream to it? :)

  • Glad - Let us know how the soup goes with the addition.

As I've got some leeks and potatoes to use up - so conclusion was I'll make leek and potato soup for dinner tonight then. With a bit of sourdough bread and a "Parmesan" equivalent from current cookbook that will do me. So the recipe I'm going to be using for that soup includes "cream or fromage frais". Cue for me thinking - "I could try using a bit of Oatly oat "cream" instead of the cream and wondering how it would be.

Lunch - cba. So mixed cereal of healthy granola and some Shredded Wheat cereal with kiwi fruit and apple. Followed by sourdough bread.

Caron - I had a checkback at the website re walking - and it wasn't my maths in the event. It was me taking it that they'd written it correctly - and they hadnt. So I'd taken it dead literally - but "they wuz wrong" to put it the way they did.

Tossing up whether to make tofu from soymilk I've got in and, to date, have found recipes for doing so with storebought soya milk and using lemon juice (which I have in), rather than nigari (which I don't have in/couldn't buy here anyway).

If anyone has a nice clear well-written recipe for making tofu from soymilk and lemon juice - do tell. At the moment I'm there thinking "Neither of those recipes has been written very well - and I'm going to have to cobble both of them together and hope it works". One just says a "carton of soya milk" - but it's an American recipe and their cartons could be a different size to our cartons and then isnt very specific about the heating of the milk. The other recipe was also faulty.

So - if anyone has a well-written such recipe - do tell.
