Sorry to hear you've caught the lurgy Caronc hopefully it wouldn't let the donkey out <<hugs>>

I don't think I've succumbed to a chest infection but I'm still feeling pretty carp and haven't done anything all weekend :(. At least Nelly has been replaced by Dumbo and the chills and sweats have gone, so you'll be pleased to hear that it's not all moaning from me :).

Food wise it's been a crackers, cereal and OJ weekend I've even gone off tea  which is unheard of :D. I'm off to Dorset next Sunday so I need to be recovered I need my strength to spend time with my family :rotfl:

    Good evening everyone,
My cold has developed to the yukky gungey stage but I don't feel horribly unwell just tired, grotty and a bit unsteady. I don't think I'll be late in my bed tonight and will liberally plaster myself with vapour rub and hope it works it's magic overnight.;)
It stopped raining mid afternoon though it looks as though there is more on the way sooner rather than later going by the darkening sky. I made the most of the dry spell and nipped to the veg patch to pick beans as I had seen yesterday there were loads ready. The runners and climbing beans are in overdrive and over 650g of climbing beans and just under 250g of runners are now prepped and in the freezer. I don't bother blanching them as I find if you are using them quite quickly as I do that they keep their colour & texture just fine without it.:) I also picked some broad beans and what is probably the final batch of peas. The broad beans are tiny but the plant had got broken in the wind & rain so I didn't want to lose them. Podded I've got a good size portion of those and half a 500ml tub of shelled peas in the fridge to use over the next few days.:) I also made the first lot of passatta for this year as I had had a good few very ripe toms needing used up. I got about 250ml from them which I won't freeze as I'll use it in the next day or so.

There was less LOs than I thought so just some slaw, a square of tortilla and the piece of brownie left to use up as I finished the other salads with the other square of tortilla for lunch today. The first two I'll have as part of my lunch tomorrow and if I don't eat it in the next 24 hours I freeze the brownie. I succumbed last night to the remaining soused herring mashed on top of a piece of well buttered toast - it was lovely:). Stroganoff won't take long to prep & cook for dinner and to go with it I'll have the portion of HM mash that I found in the freezer during last weekends sort out. I had intended to have tagliatelli with it but cba cooking that this evening.

I think, over the years, crisps/flavours have been spoiled by the manufacturers' quests to satisfy changing consumer demands re additives, salts, fats, etc. They're nowhere near as nice as they used to be at all.

plain salted crisps from the old days, I can`t remember the name, with salt in a blue twist, nothing better and they were proper substantial, not airy fairy paper thin

Farway, I think you have a fig plant, advice needed please. I have a good size container and a south wall. Is the wall just for the extra heat and what type of fig and compost is best? Is it worth growing a fig plant?

I made hemp milk for the next 3 days, hemp water cacao and maple syrup. Nice on protibix. No biscuits left in the house now, don`t ask!! Salad aplenty, soups and frozen rice today. I made a load of very buttery crumble for the freezer, easy puds with just a sprinkle on top
