  • I had leftover soup and toast for breakfast today.

I'm going to have a veggie sausage roll for lunch with a soya yoghurt and a chopped up apple and banana for pudding.

Not that you really have pudding with lunch.:D Well, I suppose it's weird to have soup for breakfast. Doesn't matter when you are cooking for one.;)

Another dull day, with wind & rain due any minute now

L's this morning, bought the missing carrots, I don't use often but just know if I've none in I'll need them. They keep yonks though so no problem
More importantly, couple of tins of custard now that crumble days are here again. I had to search a bit, used to be in cardboard packs, now in tins, typical L, keep changing things

Lunch, still on the cheese & salady using YS rolls

I think tonight I'll be same as recent PN, cheesy beans on toast. I've stale bread & a couple of eggs that need using so I'll fry them for the topping

Caron, I was just thinking about taming my toms as well, getting a bit wild now, I may do it later today as outside is just cold & damp
Not that you really have pudding with lunch.:D Well, I suppose it's weird to have soup for breakfast. Doesn't matter when you are cooking for one.;)

    Good evening everyone,

Nowt wrong IMHO in having a pud at lunchtime Wednesday, on the rare times I have one it's more likely to be then than in the evening.
I decided that not mopping the floors was just sheer laziness on my part :o so I got stuck in, helped by the fact the rain had stopped the sun came out so I knew they would dry quickly. It turned in to a lovely afternoon but there have just been a couple of heavy, thundery showers which is a shame as the local carnival is here.:( It's only here for a couple of nights and it's supposed to be very windy here tomorrow so a lot of the rides will get shut. It's the last hurrah for the kids before the schools go back next week.
The soused herring are in the oven and smell delicious, I'm hoping they don't all get eaten tomorrow but suspect they might be! Spuds & onions are cooked ready to make a tortilla and potato salad so I've pretty as done as much as I can this evening. I want to bake the tortilla but don't want it in the oven with the herring as I think it might pick up their taste:eek:, I think I'll air the oven overnight and either bake or fry it tomorrow morning. Folk are coming at one so I've plenty of time to get organised and they won't mind if I'm not completey ready when they arrive.:)
LO pasta + veg + sausages tomight which will use up some lurking mushrooms & garden beans and the pasta. Three portions of soup have been tubbed and frozen, despite the additions yesterday & today there is still quite a bit of space in there:D.

I would like the elephant sitting on my chest to get off now please :( I made the mistake of gong to work today which hasn't helped :naughty: the boss being generous  let me go at 4pm. At least it's the weekend :)

So no cooking at the moment lunch was some dry crackers and just before I came to bed I had a bowl of cereal as I felt I should eat something, anyone got a gun ;).

Enough moaning and positive vibes that it's not a chest infection as my peak flow isn't great - now about that gun ......

Woke up early, I never heard any rain but looking out it seems it must have tipped down, maybe that's what woke me?
Anyhow, up & about now, even trimmed my tomato[STRIKE] jungle l[/STRIKE]eaves after porridge breakfast

I'll probably attend to the dead heading out the front once it warms up a bit, still damp foliage at the moment

One salmon fillet out defrosting, decided today is a salad day so that fillet will get fried in butter & go nicely with salad for dinner

Lunch I expect will be same old YS roll with cheese & salad filling

Brambling, I hope your elephant packed it's trunk overnight and you're feeling a more sprightly

I have meatballs in freezer but never get around to using them

If you shop in 4ldi and just want "rid of" the meatballs..... get a tin of their 39p tomato/basil soup, throw that in a SC, nuke the balls for 2-3 minutes to get them started (drain off the fat) and toss those in. On, walk away, walk back 4-5 hours later and that's a meal ... and the last you'll see of the meatballs :)

Also works with sausages (cut/rolled into balls).

Of course, if you have other stuff, you can toss it in there... but, often, there's simply no other stuff :)

While one's not expecting to move house ... and can keep random foods in cupboards life's a bit easier. News on the house sale is: absolutely no news... so the chain's not collapsed, but it's not assured yet, still!

I did go out for a raft of goodies the other night, but I only managed one shop before becoming disillusioned with being out/food shopping and came home with chocolates, 5 bags of doritos, two jumbo sausage rolls ... and I forget what else. All gone now.

I had intended to go out yesterday evening, I thought as the weather was so atrocious (60mph winds), the staff at the shops might have no customers and be spending their time YS everything, but then somebody in the family died, so phone calls took up the rest of the evening.

Did an 8am dash to 4ldi this morning (perchance a YS), nothing of note at all... all that was reduced to half price were some boxes of chopped fruit and some of the bread rolls, so I got nothing there.

I've come home having spent £6.50 and have:
a quiche lorraine, 1.5Kg chips, 10 eggs, 4 oven bottom muffins, 2 naan breads, packet of spaghetti, 1 cucumber,
1 bag of jelly babies, packet of chocolate biscuits, 4-pack of egg custard tarts.

That'll keep me ticking along for a bit.

"Fancied" sausages, but I forgot to buy those. I tend to look around and spot things, but continue looking while I make up my mind, then forget to go back for something.

I've plenty of nibbles in today's haul - and I see many meals there.

I've removed from the freezer the hated 1/3rd chicken pie and will be having that later with chips.... I'll remove the crust once it's cooked and pick through the chicken careful to ensure there's no knobbly bits at all. If in doubt all the filling goes and I'll just have pastry and chips.
  • I've had a passion fruit yoghurt and avocado on toast this morning.

Salmon & salad still OK for dinner

Fed the toms, figs & grape in pots

The house stank of fish yesterday, mackerel, my fish box had arrived and I was quickly unpacking and vac packing individuals, then the electrician came unexpectedly. Mackerel wasn`t even cooking, it just smelt of fresh oily fish, so a freezer drawer is now full of cod, salmon, trout and mackerel and then I had sardines on toast for tea today.

I had a hm rm today but tomorrow am going to wash and spin my lettuce and cook beets tonight, need to get back into salad mode as I have a fridge loaded with the stuff also french beans which will be nice cold. I am eating ok but not super ok, too many cake slices too easy to eat when frozen. No excuse apart from being one person with many jobs to do in the house and outside
