I gave up on my quickly planted outdoor toms, stuffed into a growbag, doing ok but I wanted to get on and prepare a path. They are all picked and unshapely but in a bowl in a dark place, might or might not ripen

Couldn`t sleep due to throbbing hands and hip, overdid the work yet again, was outdoors all day, lugging stones and soil, should have taken a painkiller before bed but took one at 3am after an oatcake. I never notice it when I am actually working. An easy indoors 2 days coming up

Made costco brownies as builders need to be enticed just now

Myself, protibix for breakie with hemp and cacao milk, was nice. Oolong in my mini clay teapot, was also nice. 2 costco koftas out, to go into the oven while there is some residual heat. Salad and more salad, then feet up and a film. Bodty says rest, so I rest

Sunny day, into L's for oddz & soddz, no YS to tempt me, so it was boring old bleach, lettuce, butter etc. Plus cheese, have to use eyes and sums. I like the Ex mature cheddar, where it is cheaper pence per Kg to buy small packs than large one. :money:

I had a bowl of cornflakes last night, mid evening, just fancied "something" and that was ideal, actually a slice of cake would've been better but none of that around when it's needed;)

Lunch was LO PB baguette, wth cheese & salad filling
Dinner, I think will be baked spud, cheese filling and salad.

Caron, your toms sound far better than mine, I suspect I really need to change the potting compost, or increase the feed, it's very noticeable on my cherry plum toms the size difference on the trusses. I do love the balconi Yellows, so sweet, kids would love them I bet

pea and ham soup and a thick crust eaten, I think I was hungry last night, or maybe it was sugar overload from waffles and jam. Very tired today, not bright and breezy as normal. I have to get used to other peoples lights at night, used to be pitch black apart from the moon

Yes they are greedy beggars! Pain as it is I start from scratch every year wih a mix of 1/3 "used" compost from my bean plants, 1/3 homemade and 1/3 new mixed with a good load of chicken manure pellets. With such a short growing season here I want to get tham off to a well fed start. I then feed every 10 days or so when they start to fruit. I did discover why my Ailsa Craig one's had some whoppers an Amish Paste vine had got tangled in and they produce apple sized fruits. I did wonder.....
I do love how the different varieties taste from super sweet to almost lip puckering:).

pattypan most years I ripen a load of toms in my conservatory when the season ends and they do pretty well. Whie they might not be quite as tasty as freshly picked but still much better than the majority of shop bought ones and just fine for cooking with which by that time of year tends to be what I want them for.:)

    Good evening everyone,

As planned I spent a good chunk of today at my Dad's and got a reasonable amount done before heading home for a late lunch of the extra pasta I made last night followed by a much needed snooze. ;) My cold is a good bit better but I'm still very bunged up and have a horrible hacking cough so another early night coated in vapour rub is on the cards. After my snooze I put on my gauntlets and attacked the briars which were rampaging after all the rain. This let me get at the brambles and I picked another tub full. As well as these more beans were ready and I've another large bowlful to get prepped for the freezer.
Dinner tonight won't take long just the courgette/tom mix to heat up, an egg to cook and a Greek pitta to griddle. Before I sort that out I'm going to mix together a quick tandoori marinade to pop over a couple of chicken thighs I took out of the freezer last night so they can have a good soak before I cook them tomorrow night.

'morning all, nice bright day ahead here

I made a loaf in the Panny yesterday & a crust sampled with jam last night. It passed so that's lunch sarnie sorted

PattyP, wish I had pea & ham soup, I just fancy some now. Which has given me an idea for tonight's dinner option, open a tin of soup & use some of my fresh loaf

Usual CFO problem, loads of food & options but no bright ideas. Could be, in no particular order

    1/ Salad
    2/ Soup
    3/ fish fingers & chips
    4/ Cheese flan
    5/ Corned beef, egg, chips
    6/ Bangers & mash
    7/ Bread & jam
8/ MFO roast beef in a Yorkie
    9/ Bowl cereal
10/ pick & mix oddz & soddz from fridge, fruit bowl & biscuit tin

And there you have it. CFO meal planning at Farway Towers

  • Taken curry and rice from freezer and am going to grate some home grown courgette to add and the last of mushrooms out of fridge. Not sure about lunch but have a hm roll out of freezer (still 2 in there) so may have cheese and onion roll. Would like to make some cougette soup adding the l/o cauliflower stem (maybe) but will not be around to eat on Thurs or Fri so better to wait until Saturday when I will make some more rolls or a small loaf, will have to check the cauli stem.
  • I had toast and marg for breakfast. I have the last of the cold pesto pasta for lunch and I'm going to add some more roasted veggies.

    Good afternoon everyone,
It was dry & bright when I got up but the weather is changing now, we are forecast wind and rain this afternoon and it's certainly on the breezy side.
I'm feeling tired today though my cold is definitely waning:). While it was dry I decided to do a few bits outside and feed my toms. While I was in the greenhouse I picked another decent tub of toms so I'll be making more passatta in the next few days. Apart from a few chores and prepping the beans & brambles I picked yesterday for the freezer I'm planning a quiet afternoon. If I cba later I might tackle the some of the ironing pile!

Lunch will be crackers & cheese, a small mug of courgette soup from the freezer and some melon. Tonight I'm making tandoori chicken, mini corn cob, green beans and sweet potato. Last night's spicy courgette was really good, my taste buds are bit jaded with being bunged up so the bit of spice really hit the spot.:) The veg base made two portions so I've popped the spare in the freezer.

More apples picked, ripening thick & fast now, if I can't find non mouldy blackberries it'll just be plain stewed apples in this week's crumble

Decision made, defrosted pack of Heck bangers bought on offer in Jan
    Lunch was banger sarnie
Dinner will be bangers & Iceland frozen nuked mash, + some beans.
I've got some spuds but CBA to make mash out of them

My mum always put them on the windowsill - she said the moon ripened them.

I'd eat most of that, hard to pick the best choices.

Not salad though ... and probably not cereal. But the other 8 choices sound good... so hard to know which would be best/where to start.
