Lunch was YS ham & tom rolls.

Then I just had to sample the newly made marmalade and found it good:j not as gingery as I'd hoped though. Never mind, it's good stuff anyway

Back on looking at instant access saving rates.

Tried opening a 1.3 % Kent BS one, ages filling on line form in only to find at the end they want me to post them a bank statement to verify identity:(
Put two virtual fingers up and went to Marcus at higher rate, [1.5%] bish bash bosh, job done and trial transfer across made:)

    I'll check it's arrival tomorrow

Dinner confirmed, ham, frozen chips + salad including HG toms today

Welcome home Brambling. Then sorted out the regular saver, used Halifax where I've other accounts. Brambling, the Kent RS is pay in branch only and I can't really commit to Chichester trips just to pay cash in for 1% more, given low rates that & more would vanish in fuel.

Farway you only need to go into the branch to open it than they will accept it without going into the branch, it was one of the questions I asked as like you I don't go to Chichester every month. I haven't set up an account as they need cash or a cheque and I think a bill with my address as well as a photo ID. As I said old fashioned, I watched her fill out a book manually using a calculator

I took a former elderly neighbour out to lunch today at a country pub 20 minutes outside of town, I didn't fancy the large roast dinner and had crab Thermidor with new potatoes and salad she had roast beef and complained that potatoes not crispy, the beef had fat, the Yorkshire pudding was too big and had a soggy bottom and she's had better wine ..... I did say a thank you would have been enough  she did eat most of it  I enjoyed mine and it isn't something I would make for myself,I did resist dessert, just :D

I cooked the small gammon joint and his lordship and I sampled a couple of small slices (he stole it out of my fingers  which is unusual as he doesn't usually eat my food ), I'm not hungry so that will be dinner

My neighbour have decided 7.30pm on a Sunday night is a good time to start drilling and hammering  I didn't miss the noise when I was away:cool:

    Farway whose Marcus?

Drizzle this morning, staying in anyway, I've got PDF's to sort out so I can print & post off. I know they could be e mailed, but it's my RN medical records so need a bit more secure than t'internet

Last night's own grown toms were tasty, 3 different varieties & shapes, plenty for a salad but no more ready yet, turning colour but a few days way I think

Porridge breakfast, bed stripped, PDF "sorter" programme installed all ready for action

Lunch more ham & tom rolls
Dinner, due to drizzle not quite sure. Intention is baked cheesy spud + salad but if weather turns worse, it's pie & chips

Thanks for update on Kent BS, but I've gone elsewhere now, just too much bother / CBA in this internet age of mouse click, job done

Your neighbour's meal response sounds a bit like my late mum's, on the plus side at least you never had to cook it.

Marcus, is one of MSE best instant access savings. I found it easy to set up without hassle. https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/savings/savings-accounts-best-interest/#marcus

  • L/o meat and roasties from yesterday tonight but cheese & onion sarnie for lunch, very strong onion which is just as I like on a sarnie especially if a cold is in the offing - do not think one is though.

Toast with marmite for breakfast. I didn't finish it all as I put too much marmite on.

I've got some gluten free spaghetti to use up. I'm going to make a tomato chilli sauce and add the rest of the red pepper and the sweetcorn.

Now I think cold spaghetti would turn my tum, but who knows, never tried it

Meanwhile, spud is baking in oven, smells like it's cooking just fine. Time to prep the salad

    Afternoon all,

CFO day today (HT is home, just different meals). I had banana on one slice of toast (small wholemeal bread) for breakfast because we were going running, I had a scrambled egg on toast with some thick cut ham for lunch - early because I was working 12-4pm and I've just had 2 bacon medallions, 2 hash browns, beans, tomatoes and mushrooms because I was hungry when I came in from work.

The HT likes cold pasta sometimes. I've made it with BBQ sauce on for him a couple of times and left it in the fridge. It's not my thing at all though - we do have really different tastes in food which is why I cook separately so often. We both had a roast chicken dinner yesterday evening though so at least there are some things that we'll both eat.

    Good evening everyone,

Glad you had a good holiday Brambling
I'm not adverse to a bit of cold pasta & sauce, it depends what the sauce is though.

I'm back to CFO,my elder son and his fiancee left first thing and my younger son this afternoon. It was a lovely but chaotic couple of days not without a couple of calamities. On Saturday my elder son forgot to close the velux window in his room, cue monsoon-like rain and a soaking bed/carpet. Thankfully there was a spare matress and I've loads of bedding so they camped out in the dining room for the rest of their stay. Yesterday my sis, nephew & his gf joined us for dinner, we were making fajitas and HM refried beans. My younger son was a bit heavy handed with the stick blender resulting in beans pebble dashing the cooker, units & walls. We did clean up but my word it sets like concrete in no time and I spent ages this morning scraping bits we had missed - no doubt there will still be random splatters lurking!!
We rather over-catered last night so quite a bit of LOs, I'll use some tonight, freeze some and the LO sour cream & HM salsa will be fine in the fridge for a while.
My younger son arrived home on Saturday with a bunch of over ripe bananas which he used to bake a couple of banana & walnut loaves yesterday. One got scoffed last night for pud and the other bar a couple of slices for me was split between the kids to take home. I didn't have a piece last night but had a slice late afternoon with a cuppa and it was lovely:).
