Marcus, is one of MSE best instant access savings. I found it easy to set up without hassle. https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/savings/savings-accounts-best-interest/#marcus
Thanks Farway this is my job for Sunday, a necessary PITA, I did threaten to put my savings under the mattress for all the interest we get:cool: the young guy in the BS believed me when I told him that last year, I had to reassure I was joking
It seems your sons made work for you this time Caronc rather than being their usual helpful selves
Back to work and over 300 emails   I'm dreading how many I'll get when I have my two weeks off at the end of the month :eek: and we are still experiencing major system issues  at least my dentist checkup went ok, I've a new dentist as my previous one has left.
Lunch was gammon salad, it was still drizzling lunchtime so no walk. Dinner was LO salmon risotto and green veg from Saturday, fridge to table in under five minutesLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -

Yikes re the emails I remember that sinking feeling of logging in after being on leave......0 -
I had seeded bread with marg, no marmite this time.
I have leftover spaghetti for lunch. I added lots of veg and lentils to it and it was very nice, even cold, haha. I might heat it up today as it is much cooler here.
Not sure about dinner yet.0 -
Good afternoon everyone,
We have a weather warning for thunderstorms again, however I did manage to run some errands without getting drenched.
My winter pansy plug plants have just arrived, hopefully it will dry up a bit and I can get them potted.
I think I'll be eating a lot of courgettes over the next few days as a some have got rather large. They were tiny when I last checked a couple of days ago! Thankfully I love them so it wont be a chore.:)
Soup, toast and fruit for lunch, shame I managed to not seal the mug and now have a rather smelly microwave to clean out as it was smoked haddock chowder. Dinner will involve chicken thighs & courgettes.

Bit dull but warm today, into L's early, empty now the schools are closed, I shot round & out in no time
Nothing spectacular, some Little gems on offer, so bought them instead of usual Iceberg / Cos. Nothing else to take my fancy, boring stuff like bag of sugar 'cos I used the last in the marmalade making
However I did fail in the Co-op, it's got a Post Office in there and I needed to post my docs of to the British Legion, then I spotted mini doughnuts:o which fell into my bag
Lunch another couple of ham & tom rolls, followed by 2 mini doughnuts.
Not as nice I thought they would be, Morries are more squidgy, but TBH, I've never come across a doughnut anywhere that is so bad I'd leave it
Put loaf on in the Panny, was hoping to find some YS bread in L's but none
Dinner, ham will be in there, but rest is undecided, maybe salad or could be sarnie using the new warm loaf. A wait and see dinner tonight
Caron, kitchen splatter and seeing your post about haddock smelly mw reminded me of my kipper nuking experience a few months back. At least we can smile at it later onEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Good evening everyone,
Thankfully the reek wasn't as bad as "kipper-gate" must have been Farway:eek:, it was bought rather than HM soup so not overly pungent. After cleaning with vinegar and lemon juice it smells okay though no doubt there will be the odd whiff the next few times I use it. There's half a carton left which will be getting heated in a pan tomorrow to avoid a repeat!;)
The forecast was correct and we've had thunder & lightening and torrential rain. There were enough gaps though to let me retrieve compost and harvest courgettes as well as two cucumbers. Four of the courgettes are a wee bit bigger than I would have like and one at the size I'd normally pick. I'm roasting the smaller one with a chicken thigh and other veg for dinner tonight. My flower garden is definitely showing signs of Autumn as well as damage from all the rain. My next job for a dry day is to start putting bits of it to bed for the winter.0 -
The microwave at work currently stinks of fish  it seems the lady who occasionally comes into the office had fish of some kind yesterday. I was shut in the meeting room all afternoon before going at 4pm for the dentist so missed the initial cooking. If I had realised I would have taken in lemon to clean today because I use it as well _pale_. There's usually just the two of us who cleans it and my colleague is on holiday, the rest of the office believe there are kitchen fairies
I popped into w*itrose lunchtime for some fruit as it's closest to the office and picked up less than half price YS white nectarines, peaches, apricots, mango, passion fruit, grapes, pears and apples as well as green beans, spinach, sugar snap peas (I snack on them raw) mushrooms and tender stem broccoli. I did share with my sister, except the nectarines which are so sweet I'm keeping them. There was loads there but I only took a pack of each so plenty of variety which can be a problem when CFO so she was happy as well
Lunch was a gammon salad and for dinner I crumbed some chicken thigh fillets in spiced breadcrumbs and air fried them and served with green veg and new potatoesLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Office microwaves _pale__pale__pale_
Mind you much to my shame:o:o I once and only once stunk the whole 1st floor out nuking HM cullen skink....... (It was tasty though:rotfl::rotfl:)0 -
PN, own brand Mars bars? I like that idea, from L's?
They're not full sized. Both Ald1 & L1dl sell them. These ones were 6 bars in a long packet, but they sell smaller/snack ones in bags.
They're not as "dense" as a proper Mars, nor is the top chocolate the same thickness (from my memory of the last Mars bar I bought over 10 years ago) ... but they're a mousse base, topped with a layer of caramel, completely covered in chocolate.

I popped to 4ldi at 8am, just for bread rolls and to see if there was anything else... e.g. YS, but there was no YS.
I bought a bag of onions, a 2-pack of plain naans and an 8-pack of snack sized sausage rolls (Lincs sausage filled).
Then I thought I'd pop to L1dl to grab their 500g (39p) bag of simply oats to make flapjacks to use up all that huge bottle of Golden Syrup I've been getting through for the last 3 years .... but they don't sell the 500g bags any more, just 1Kg. On the basis the 500g bag took 3 years to use up, I couldn't buy a 1Kg bag, especially as the purpose was to use up the GS so I've no "opened jars/bottles/packets" in case I move house shortly (it's not looking likely to be honest, things are going Pete Tong).
BUT ... I did spot a family sized Chicken Pie with a 30% off sticker on it, so £1.53, that came home with me. I'll cut it into three and freeze it as 3 pieces, so I don't have to eat it more than 3x, in a bid to keep the freezer "empty". Ideally I'd have bought spuds and carrots and frozen peas to serve with that, but I am putting off bringing in fresh veg or frozen veg right now until I've a clue if this house sale is going ahead or about to collapse.
Today's food will be:
Egg & cucumber bread rolls
