I just had a leftover jacket potato heated up with half a tin of baked beans, Totally hit the spot.:EasterBun
I need to finish up the cherries later.0 -
I freeze susages, party cooked, in 2's so am planning on getting a couple out, adding some reduced price button mushrooms, never thought of soup but thats an idea, and making a pasta meal (or 2 or 3 !!! ) with that, a tin used, some sausages used and some pasta used. Will no doubt add a few other bits, maybe carrots, onion, you know how it is.0

Good morning everyone,
It's sunny just now but like yesterday there's thunder/heavy rain forecast for this afternoon.
LO pasta for lunch and dinner will be a freezer rake.
I'm having a domestic day so that the house is nice and tidy for the kids coming up though that will last all of two minutes once they arrive. They're driving up and tend to pack as though they're moving in:rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Bit of a restless night for no reason so a feeling bit knackered today
No lie in though, MOT day:(
Porridge for breakfast, then car in for MOT + oil change &[STRIKE] kick the tyres [/STRIKE] essential service
Early enough for YS mooch around town, nothing, maybe as well 'cos it was catch bus home. I've arranged to collect car tomorrow, more bus pass time
Cheese & piccalilli sarnie for lunch
Dinner is very CBA, I've taken a YS beef slice out to defrost, I'll have it with frozen chips & maybe some beans. Not feeling very hungry today, no doubt I could find room for a choc bar should one appear
'Phone call from garage, FAIL, exhaust leaking & rear light cluster duff. Given age of car, 2006, no big surprise really. Sign of times, not allowed to patch exhausts anymore, has to be replaced I'm told
Luckily I've the cash, and it is not heaps of dosh which would then need serious thought about repair or scrap car. My Nationwide current account & regular saver account deals end next month so I'm on the hunt for replacements for when they end. I'll wait until next week and the kids have been and gone before sitting down & having a proper look.
Snap, Must have taken them out same time, maybe a best buy at the time? I'm on the prowl soon.
My invisible cash ISA decloaked yesterday, so I spent the afternoon with bleeding fingers scouring best ISA buy tables
That ISA is now on it's way to Newcastle "way eye man":)Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Had the remainder of the sausage/tomato casserole, bl00dy lovely - served with the last of the current pack of spaghetti.
Popped out to L1dl, they've got a "99p event" running 1-7 Aug, which is a bunch of products all priced at 99p/pack. Some brand names mostly, Clover, Stork, Alpen, Birds Eye, Strings & Things, Mr Porky, McVities, Boursin, Seriously Smokey Spreadable, Rustlers, Uncle Bens Rices, Pot Noodles, Potato Waffles, and Pukka Pies (C/M & Veggie).... and a few more things Nothing for me, maybe a pie .... but if you're going there thought I'd give you the heads up to check in case anything's something you might buy.
I picked up a 3-pack of cheesecakes.... then put it back.
Nearly bought a pack of hash browns as they had one bag in the freezer, but that'd have made an obligation for me to eat 15 of them, which is too many "if" I suddenly get the call (say this week) to sign/exchange.... no clues on that one, it's all silent, but once the call comes it's all stations go.
Bought: 1.5Kg of chips and 15 fish fingers, 12 cans of fizzy pop and some margarine.
Had a fish finger toastie/sandwich for tea.
Freezer drawer's half full now, with 1½ bags of chips, fish fingers (and that s0ddin' soup at the back).0 -

Shame about the MOT but as you say older cars......

Good evening everyone,
Well the thunder didn't stay out in the bay today:eek:, we had a cracking storm overhead for a few hours and monsoon-like rain. Unfortunately all the places that were flooded earlier in the week have been hit again:(.
My son & his fiancee are on their way but won't get here until midnight ish. My son shared an app with me that tracks them driving in real time and it must be a quiet day as it's kept me amused no end.:rotfl::rotfl:
Lunch was LO pasta and while it filled me at the time so just had I was munchy late afternoon which is unusual for me. A choc ice, a couple of satsumas and some brambles took the edge off but I did wish I had some biccies in but maybe just as well I didn't;). Bother just as I typed that I remember I have a pack of Ginger Creams lurking in the cupboard that I bought in case the chap servicing my CH fancied a cuppa. He didn't so they are still unopened! On that note I have an open box of chocs that have been there for months - I must see if I can off load them to the kids as it would seem I'm not going to eat them. I'm happy stick to an odd square of the 70% dark choc in the fridge if I get the notion and that is definitely not getting shared.:rotfl:
Spicy rice, veg & lentils with a poached egg for dinner. No doubt there will be LOs as it's hard to make a CFO amount but I'll either freeze them or have them for lunch one day.
I probably won't get a chance to post much over the next few days - hope everyone has a good weekend when it comes.:)0 -
Evening all  from sunnyish Devon, we had really heavy rain yesterday but today we were back to sunshine
. We walked nearly 9 miles today along part of the coastal path so lots of really steep climbing my Fitbit tells me we've walked 133 flights of stairs today  my sister has already gone to sleep, it seems I'm fitter than her
I spent a lot of time waiting for her to catch up on the hills, but she did drive and there were some narrow roads so she's sleeping it off
. I was able to enjoy the drive across Exmoor
We wandered around the local small town in the rain yesterday afternoon, browsing in the second hand book store etcand popped into a local tea room to share HM Bakewell tart with ice cream and a cream tea, fantastic large light scones, good enough to compliment them on leaving
. We will compare them with the tea room next door tomorrow afternoon, it would be rude not to :rotfl: I fear the benefits of all the walking will be lost
PN another vote by me to bin the s0dding soup if you don't like it, go on you know you really want to.
Caronc I'm another one who needs to check my Nationwide deals, thanks for the reminder:). Farway I'm not sure if the Kent Reliance are still offering a good monthly saver, you have to go in branch and there's a really small one in Chichester now. They are a little old fashioned and you need cash or cheque to open with passport or photo driving license but once open you can pay in without going into the branch. I was making myself a jacket potato again but my husband gave me a vegan sausage roll from Gregg's he bought yesterday so I had that for breakfast instead!
I will have to have the potato with the rest of the baked beans for lunch.
I want to have the strawberries and the last few cherries with yoghurt at some point.:)2025 GOALS

A good night's kip now it's cooler. after porridge breakfast into town on the bus, can't use pass until after 0930 so bit later than my normal mooching time
I took the shopping trolley along as it would be car home.
Into Asda first, nearest the bus stop, YS C & O quiches, two of them, dinner solved:j
Iceland next, top up with frozen chips, but spotted YS Vegan chilli & rice for one. I think it's LO from the everyone go vegan mad earlier this year.
Obviously their customers thought otherwise, discontinued & down to 25p now, worth a pop at that price, reading packet blurb I think it's sort of chilli con carne copy cat
Last stop before garage was W8rose, more YS indulgence time. oak smoked bacon, gammon joint & spuds, all impulse stuff but I'll eat them over the week.
Gammon I'll slow cook, still a few days left in date. Spuds, daft BBE today and not even sprouting yet
Had some the YS bacon in a BLT sarnie for lunch
Dinner, so far thinking of some of the YS C & O quiche with salad, just the weather for it really and no effort neededThink it was highlighted on this site as a good option.Shame about the MOT but as you say older cars......

Collected car, total cost £372.00, including service, MOT, 2 X tyre + exhaust, last two I put into the "consumables" really because they will not last forever & just wear over time whatever the car make
Caron, would that be Waze? I use that and think it's great, and ideal if the people you are visiting can track and see you [Brambling?] stuck at Stonehenge for instance.
Brambling. Cream tea sounds good, you obviously will need to compare it with another one from elsewhere. Thanks for Kent Reliance tip, I used to have an account with them ages ago but like many it failed to keep competitive. I'll check them out
PN, I saw the 99p offers, like you, of no use to me but I guess ideal for someEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
I viewed a CFO house today. My first obvious one.
No oven/hob at all. The space had been filled with a fridge - and on top was a microwave oven (maybe combi) and some other electrical gadget.
He's lived there 20+ years, but the agent said he's just going round the corner and his mum lives 2 doors up, so she probably has always cooked his main meals.
Made me feel proper "normal"
Unfortunately, I liked the house, but not the work it needed doing. We're talking hairline cracks, ceiling leaks, textured wallpaper throughout.... a 10+ year old boiler, 20+ year DG and that's before I get to my list of wants. Almost top of budget, so no spare for what ideally needs to be a "strip every room back to plaster, skim, paint, start again" job.
I'd just thought it could do with a new kitchen, maybe flooring throughout at some point, maybe a few new DG windows 2-3 years, splash of paint ... but mostly "just easier/surface works".0
