Lunch was cheese & shallot sarnie, had some shallots bought yonks back on offer in L's, the long ones.

Two of them were a bit soft and sprouting, so I've bunged them in a pot outside, never know, they could grow and give me something oniony later in the year

    Good evening everyone,
Promised thunder storm hasn't yet arrived but thundery torrential rain showers certainly have!!
One of my tomato plants in the conservatory which admittedly is quite large decided to make a sucide leap off the window sill. It flung itself all over a rack of wet laundry which is now back in the machine, debris swept and offending plant has been repotted and tied to a window handle. The washing must have cushioned its fall as it's completely undamaged.:)
My sis popped by just as I was making lunch so the LO steak had to be very thinly sliced to stretch to two rolls! She did quite well out of a random pop by- lunch, lots of pea pods scoffed and took away a load of greens from the garden.
The LO spuds & green veg that are lurking in the fridge will go nicely with a couple of bratwurst from the freezer, mushrooms , onions & tomatoes for dinner tonight. After the cooking fest that was the weekend I'm more than happy to make a main meal that doesn't create lots of washing up. Also lurking in the fridge was a tub of tinned pineapple, the juice has bee used as part of a marinade for pork ribs for tomorrow and the rings have been frozen. I'll pop the ribs in the SC in the morning and finish them off in the oven so they go nice and crispy.:D I've done a meal plan for the next few days to cover until my elder son and his fiancee arrive later in the week. On tomorrow's "to do" is to make another batch of pesto as the basil plant is huge again. It's definitely going to be back to freezer tetris:rotfl::rotfl:

More sunshine today, cooler & more pleasant though

    Usual porridge
Then watering the front pots again, despite the rain of a couple of days ago, so hot it just vanishes overnight

Absolutely no idea about food today, lunch, probably stale bread cheese sarnie and pretend I'm in a 1960s pub;)

Dinner ??????? There's always beans on toast I suppose

Must be a suicidal tom strain about
My one that toppled last week seems to have had a fright, one of the toms on the hanging by thread bunch is turning red now:j
The saga of my "vanished" cash ISA continues. After filling in form last week, had letter back [that's 3 x first class letters so far] telling me "All sorted"

Went to log in this morning, my new magic number machine is now not working.:(

Logged in "old style". Cash ISA still invisible
'phoned them. Human on the end
Seems magic number machine cancelled itself, they'll send a new one [serialised]. That's 2 x postage and cost of thingy, plus one electronic item no longer of any use off to landfill I guess

Invisible ISA "should appear" by tomorrow, assuming I can manage to log in
Luckily it is money that sorts itself & I'm not dependant upon it. Having lived long enough to know stuff happens I'm not going to waste blood pressure over it, life's too short for that

    Good morning everyone,

Hope folk are unscathed by any flooding.
My the rain we have had has been horrendous with roads closed and a couple of communities quite badly flooded. Thankfully apart from the bottom of my garden which resembles a pond I've not been affected. The very heavy rains are due to ease as the day goes on but I think it will be a day indoors for me unless the weather really perks up.
Pork ribs for dinner tonight, I have quite decided what to have with them yet. Lunch will be a sarnie or toast & soup. I bought a couple of cartons of the Covent Garden soups as I like them and they were on SO. I should really make some and stash in the freezer but my freezers are quite full at the moment so the cartons will do me for the time being.
  • Have whizzed up a broc for broc rice, portions for freezer but will keep one out for today and will have some chops or similar from freezer. Made some asp soup to have cold so that will be for lunch.

I've been eating very weirdly with the hideous hot weather we have had here.

Today I have had a few crackers and some cherries.

I'm going to make a roast dinner later, vegan Quorn pieces, roast potatoes, roast parsnips, steamed carrots, broc, cauliflower and gravy.

Very brave in this heat, I've been wierd eating as well in this weather, just picking at what takes my fancy sometimes

Lunch was stale bread cheese & shallot sarnie

Dinner decided, follow on from wierdish meals, tonight is use ups, LO boiled spuds + LO steamed veggies

I'll fry & then make sort of frittata out of the result, bit of grated cheese on top should do it

More watering completed, and pruned my green grape, I've about 4 bunches I can see, fingers crossed because it's just "Green Muscat" £2.50 from Wilko May 2018. Into the unknown

It's not too hot here now, about 25 degrees. I can handle that heat but last week was unbearable for me.

I don't think I said on here but when I went to a rock concert last week I felt so hot and dizzy that the bouncer had to let me into the VIP area to sit down.

The roast dinner was lovely. I had stuffing too, there are lots of leftovers in the fridge.:A

    Good evening everyone,
25C is on the top of end of comfortable for me and I doubt I could cope with cooking a roast - though would happily eat one:rotfl:.
The torrential rain has abated and it much, much cooler than it's been. It's to be warm but thundery again tomorrow. Some of my hanging and wall baskets are looking decidedly sorry for themselves. If it's dry at all tomorrow I'll see if I can rescue them but the hanging baskets maybe beyond saving as they were past their best anyway. The pond in my garden has receded and I managed a bin run without needing my wellies though it's still pretty puddly.

Details have now been agreed with the Estate Agents and barring any hitches my Dad's flat will be on the market towards the end of the week. Between that and other adminy bits I seem to have spent most of today on the phone or online. My phone holding and typing hand is achey tonight!
Lunch was toast topped with sliced homegrown tomatoes, 1/2 a carton of mushroom soup and a bowl of pea pods. The ribs have been slowcooked and just need a quick blast in the oven, I'm going to have them with oven chips, mushrooms and a mini corncob.

    Good morning everyone,
It's dry and sunny here though if the forecast is correct not for long as we are back on weather warnings for thunder/rain from this afternoon:(.
While it's dry I'm going to do a few bits in the garden, water the greenhouse and pick some veg for dinner tonight. I'm not sure if it's worth trying to tidy up my hanging baskets if they're just going to get battered again over the next few days!
Lunch will be a repeat of yesterday's toast/tomatoes/soup and its pasta tonight featuring garden veg plus anything lurking in the fridge.
The ribs last night were lovely the pineapple juice added a nice tang without making them overly sweet. Some of the recipes I saw also added brown sugar but I reckoned the juice & ketchup would be sweet enough for me and it was. I'll definitely make that again if I have pineapple juice though next time I'll add either more mustard or a bit of chilli to give them a bit more heat.
