    Good afternoon everyone,

Hot here today 30Cish and windy. The wind is warm so it's not getting any relief.
I was up early doors and thought I'd just crack on before it got too hot. I've swept through, cleaned the bathroom, weeded the front garden and put away a grocery order. I intend to have guilt-free laze for the rest of the afternoon.
Lunch is cheese salad and dinner tonight will involve LO chicken & roast veg. However, I'm not sure if I'll be CFO or not as my younger son is coming up after work. It will depend when he gets finished whether he'll eat en route or come here.

Melting here, minimum of cooking for dinner luckily. just Actifry some frozen chips

I've more French beans ready, so a cooked meal will be a must tomorrow I think, has to be tomorrow because I'm out on Saturday with Grandchildren

    Good evening everyone,
Still hot here and looks as though it's going to stay in the mid 20Cs overnight. My "hot" water bottle is alreading the fridge chilling for bedtime:cool:. Garden, greenhouse and my fiery feet have been watered!
After my usual feet up for an hour in my relatively cool bedroom, I headed to the shady bit at the bottom of my garden with my book, a big glass of cold barley water and a choc ice and I more or less stayed there for the rest of the afternoon :). I noticed I've been a bit crampy overnight and earlier today so have upped my salt intake a tad which seems to have helped. I managed to avoid the temptation to munch crisps and added a very small pinch to my soft drinks.

My son isn't arriving until very late so I'm CFO tonight which suits me as I cba cookinng and there's really only enough LOs for one without either making something else or adding loads to them. Dinner is LO chicken, LO roast veg and either a couple of nuke steamed new spuds or a slice of SD.

The only good thing about work is the air conditioning :D. I had to go to the post office today which is luckily only just down the road from the office but it was a bit of a shock walking out of the office lunchtime. We were on a conference call this morning from someone in Dubai and their temperature was 48 :eek: we had a heavy shower just as I got home tonight only last about five minutes but didn't break the heat, I had to laugh at the BMW driver's face when he got caught with his roof down :D. Does that make me petty

I've just finished ironing definitely not the best idea I've ever had but I'm going away tomorrow, maybe I should have left it until I got there  I'm currently sitting melting with a cold drink :o I'm driving down to North Devon tomorrow with my sister I'm hoping it won't be too hot and we don't sit too long the A303, especially as it's first weekend of the school holidays :o. I've packed my walking shoes and the vodka as she doesn't do gin

It's been too hot to eat much today lunch was a small soft blue cheese salad and dinner another salad this time with a slice of salmon and broccoli quiche from the freezer and heated in the air fryer.

If there's WiFi at the cottage I'll pop in during the week and wave

my riverford order came today, 200g of basil, I couldn`t grow any this year. I just finished cleaning up having made 9 portions of pesto, without the parmesan and with half the amount of olive oil. I froze 8 portions in 2 trays which make big ice cubes. I only need to add olive oil and parmesan, so that is 9 easy meals ahead

I have had a bit of muesli soaked all night in hm hemp milk, later 2 boiled aggs and some sd bread. The bread is yummy, reminds me so much of the thinly sliced black bread we used to get in the old days from the market. Rye starter makes it taste more sour

Right now I am roasting various veg in the remoska and have prepped some broad beans. That will do and I am de-frosting a rhubarb crumble. I very much like this crumble topping, very buttery. I`ll be out after lunch if it cools down a bit. Or tomorrow or sunday after the allotment. I have lots of blackcurrants still to pick, 125g for £2.25, that makes it a hugely valuable crop.

    Good morning everyone,

Hope you have a great holiday Brambling

It was well after midnight when my son finally got here as there was an accident on the motorway. I had headed to my bed with my book & a cuppa intending to stay awake but needless to say I was fast asleep when he arrived!
Still warm but a much better temperature than yesterday. It's very overcast but fingers crossed it will stay dry. Picked loads of pea pods earlier, lots have been munched already:).
Fishy tea of some description tonight as we are heading to the fishmongers later and will see what they have.

I think we are heading out for lunch tomorrow then it will be back to CFO for a few days on Sunday before "round 2" of the kids home starts again on Thursday.

Still warm but cooler, only 75 at 5.30 this morning:( Sleepless night with the heat, splash of rain but did nothing to ease it

L's mooch this morning. YS mac cheese + 20p pack of sliced silver-side, meals sorted. And much needed salad cream & mayo topped up

Lunch was some the silver side in a sarnie, I made a fresh loaf last night

I'm picking some French beans for dinner, I'll use some of the silver side, and have with boiled new spuds, carrots etc. Not ideal this weather but it's use up day, hate to leave the French beans to get tough

Enjoy the hols I hate the 303 since the "improvements" around Stonehenge, one reason we no longer visit Stourhead. The awful thing is there is not an easy detour is there once committed to A303

I'm going other direction, down the Dockyard, again, with grandchildren. They have annual Family Ticket now so I expect that may become regular visit. They love the activity bits in there

Looking forward to a lovely fishy dinner later - scallops, squid, langoustines, haddock & swordfish cooked simply and served with new spuds & wilted garden greens. Even better I'm not cooking:D:D

Today I've had 2 sausage rolls, finished off the lemon meringue ice cream and made/eaten two rounds of egg/cucumber sandwiches :)

I popped into Sainsbobs earlier (in, wander, out with nothing). I was disappointed to see their bags of 5 doughnuts, usual price 65p but sometimes on special offer at 50p, have now gone up to 75p!! A single doughnut used to be 30p and is now 35p (not that I ever bought a single doughnut because it doesn't make sense to buy one at 30p when you could have FIVE for 50-65p.

I spotted a bit of a bargain I couldn't bring myself to buy/enjoy. It was a pretty nice looking cheesecake, reduced from an eye-watering £3.75 down to 99p. Trouble is, I couldn't justify it to myself to buy/scoff it. 1900 calories in the whole thing.

I avoid the A303, would rather take a longer slower route for me to see dd, its a manic fast road, particularly going in the Andover/London direction. A very dangerous road

So I had a lovely scone with hm blackcurrant jam and clotted cream, eating cream makes me feel very full. I am still freezer-loading, parsley and blackcurrants from the allotment. No weeding there any more, too far for a round trip, I am waiting until october to pick the late apples and that will be it.

I should order fish but cba with all that packing into portions right now, maybe in a couple of weeks
