    Garden 2 - Brambling 0 :o.

I wore a long sleeve tee shirt to garden and then rolled my sleeves up  I've reacted to something again  I've also lost a new hand fork I brought on Saturday , I've looked everywhere in the garden but can't see it, maybe they should sell them with bright colour handles, the only other thing I can think is I left it on the path and it went walk about when I popped in doors, I hope not :( I live in a Close but there is a footpath so a lot of foot traffic, there's never been issues before so hopefully I'm just man looking . I did search the garden bin just in case. I know I put it down when I started to chop down the dead rhododendron.

Farway my local garden centre is only small so nothing fancy other than a bird of prey centre and a forge. I picked up a white puddling in their farm shop I was tempted by four large chicken breast with their bone still in (can't remember what they call it) I don't buy a lot of chicken breast but it did look nice and was a good price, however i'm really trying not to feed the freezer :D

PN if you still haven't heard call the estate agent in the morning and ask for an update so you know what's what and can plan. Hopefully as you are a month in to selling yours and I'm assuming no mortgage that should act in your favour if they are desperate to sell quickly.

TH I hope you had good enough weather for your picnic :)

I weigh up my options today, ironing, clean floors or gardening and pottering in the garden won :rotfl: I rewarded myself when I came in with a magnum :D. Food otherwise was cheese, crackers and sliced tomatoes for lunch and LO rice, Singapore noodle and stir fry veg turned into egg fry rice, looked a mess but surprisingly tasty for dinner

    Good evening everyone,
    I'm back:D
    Welcome to CFO land thrifty-hayley:wave:
My offspring have departed and it's back to CFO for me. It's been really lovely having them here but very busy and chaotic so while I'm missing them I'm enjoying the quieter house.:)
Lots [STRIKE]far too much[/STRIKE] of lovely food has been eaten over the last week culminating in a get together yesterday when there were 9 of us for dinner. We had hoped to bbq but it was too cold, damp and blowing a gale so we decided not to and just cook inside instead. My friends brought scrumptious (the best I've had) venison sausages & burgers and the local fishmonger did us proud with a whole cod & gorgeous langoustine tails which were supplemented with squid from Lidl (as the fishmonger didn't have any left) and salmon from my freezer bought on SO in the run up to Christmas last year. With salads, bread and Jersey Royals it was a veritable feast. Whilst not the cheapest catering we've done. the entire meal worked out around £7 per head so much the same as getting in fish & chips in, though with admittedly more prep & clearing up!;) There's definitely savings in numbers that us CFOs can't get!

There are few (not that many LOs considering the amount of food) that I'm not complaining about :D(as group we can certainly shift a lot of food:o). However, my fridge is full of various bits from the last week so tomorrow's job is to see what's needing used up and meal plan from there.

Today has been spent tidying up, tackling the laundry mountain and just generally pottering about. Lunch was a cold venison sausage with carmelised onion chutney sandwich and LO green/tomato salad. A small cream eclair & a very ripe nectarine were snacked on late afternoon.:o There's a small amount of cod left (no seafood it all went) which I'm going to flake through a one pan bung in of cherry tomatoes, peppers, onion and LO spuds. The cod had been smothered in harissa paste before roasting so should work well. There is also salmon LO, enough for a couple of portions, one I'll probably use with pasta tomorrow and the other I'll freeze.

Glad you had a good week Caronc and quality family time :)

It not only cheaper to cook for more rather than CFO but at times it taste better too, I find bigger cuts of meat or whole fish definitely benefit from being bigger when cooked. I cooked a half side of salmon last night and a single fillet in the hope of LOs even my sister commented that you could taste the difference. Unfortunately no LO salmon :( my skinny nephews have healthy appetites, I'm told it's a compliment :rotfl:

My two boys & nephew were round the table last night - suffice to say I'm glad I'm no longer feeding boys/men daily:rotfl::rotfl:
It's so much the case when you are CFO that choice is limited unless you want to either waste loads or freeze loads ..... :(

    Good morning everyone,

It's nice and sunny out though the forecast is for back to back rain coming in. I'm going to make the most of the dry weather and work on my veg patch.
Food plans for today not quite finalised but will involve LOs from the weekend!

  • Morning everyone :)

I did take the picnic yesterday, weather held for about 10 mins then we ended up eating our sandwiches with our hoods up and running back to the car. Nothing like a great british picnic :rotfl:

For tea I made stir fry with frozen salmon and frozen stir fry veg, first time I've tried that and it was really nice. Today the bf is coming over later and I'm cooking for him, first time so lets hope I don't poison him! I have some steak strips that I'm going to do in a creamy sauce with mushrooms and pasta. Lunch will be cheese on toast I think.
