I have been having porridge with honey for breakfast this week. I like to switch it up a bit, so have 1 week of porridge, then another week of something else. Next week I'll be making some freezable Sausage Egg Mcmuffins (the bacon and egg ones I made previously were good)

I was given some potatoes and leeks from my Mums vegitable patch, so made a really good Potato and leek soup.

Need to start looking for some more red lentil recipes, and I have a bunch of them. May see if I can bulk out Chili con carne with them.

Caught up with the washing up. Will let it air dry, and will then put most of it away.
Folded and put away 2 loads of washing, and collapsed the airer down (I'm terrible for just leaving it up in the kitchen permanently!)

Next job is the hoovering, then I'll treat myself to a little lay down with my book. :)

Lunch was a BLT, using OOD own bake baguette, which baked up just fine, only OOD by a calendar month so actually in CFO date

Added some mushrooms to the savoury mince in SC, looking good, and now it's drizzling outside so the mince in SC will be nice & comforting, especially if I bung in a couple of herby dumplings later

It could if plugged in, because the main electric supply is live in there as far as the "ON" button.

If there is damp or fault prior to ON button this could cause it. The only real way to isolate is remove the plug from wall socket, which if anything like my setup means lugging items out to get at the PIA socket

Thanks Farway, I fear it could be the death throes of my dishwasher, my plug is at the back of a long cupboad not situated for a women of my age, build or arm length. I think i'll still have the electrician out to confirm if that is the case and he can put my dining room socket back in place. I'll be happy once i get him to check the electrics in the house, I know it's not the original wire fuse box but it's a 1960s house and I don't think much has been done with the electrics

It's raining here so lunch is sat in the office trying to avoid work for an hour, I've pinged some LO beef ragu and pasta. Dinner if i'm good will be quiche and salad and if i'm not fish and chips :)

Oh dear Brambling, sound like your DW socket location is as daft as mine is. The curses of white goods as we get older & less bendy

Dumplings are dumpled & only need time in SC be scrummy for dinner

    Good evening everyone,
I too suffer from inaccessible socket location for my dishwasher, washing machine & tumble drier. I'd need to hoick them out to get that them!! It seemed like a good idea at the time - no idea what I was thinking:o.
It has rained solidly all day and is showing no sign of letting up this evening. Apart from a rather soggy trundle to the wheelie bins I've not been out.
I'm trying to slowly but steadily re-organise and declutter my living spaces which seem to have gone to pot over the past few months. I'm certainly no minimalist when it comes to my things but it's gone beyond the point where I'm happy to live with it. My kids & sis have been told not to offload anymore "stuff" to me just 'cos I have more room and they want rid but might want it in the future! With the rain there was no excuse not to get on with it and while I didn't get a huge amount done I feel I have a plan.......
My fridge & veg basket have had a good look through and some heading-for-compost mushrooms, a limp celery stalk and sprouty onion were "transformed" into a rather tasty pot of soup. Instead of spuds I thickened it with some stake sourdough. With a splodge on almost OOD single cream there's enough to have a mug with lunch for the next few days. I had four avocados only one of which was ripe. It was mashed with lime juice & tabasco and I griddled the remaining rashers of bacon. With a mug of soup the bacon & avocado topping a slice of the stale sourdough toasted it made what felt like quite a "posh" lunch from a load of use ups:money:. Even better there is enough to have the same again tomorrow. :D While I playing freezer tetris to add some corn cobs I found a bag of plum tomatoes from summer 2017, that weren't on my freezer list:o:o. These are now in a pan with garlic, onions & herbs to make a small batch of tomato sauce. I had planned to make tandoori chicken tonight but the chicken was slow to defrost so it's now in the fridge in it's marinade for tomorrow night. There are still a few things needing used up but apart from some tenderstem broccoli nothing that shouldn't be okay for a good few days yet :). Dinner tonight is chorizo, veg & rice from the freezer with tenderstem broccoli & poached egg

I foolishly left mine to the kitchen fitters :o after eight years I still don't know where my cooker one is I'm assuming behind it as I've looked everywhere else, I know the one for the hob is in one of my wall cupboards.

I succumbed to the fish and chips for dinner :naughty: it's too cold and wet for salad  and remembered why it's been more than a couple of years since I brought any and that was only chips in West Bay. It was a generous portion for a small cod and chips and could have fed two, I ate what I could and will be looking for the indigestion tablets later :o luckily I had money in my purse as they only take cash.

I brought a new toy for the garden (before I knew I would be paying for the electrician ) a weed burner which was delivered to my sisters today, my patio, path and gravel area drive me mad and I don't like to use weed killer. I've had the safety lecture from my nephew :rotfl: it doesn't use flames just hot air to kill the weeds and it's electric rather than one with gas canisters so I shouldn't blow myself up I just need to avoid setting light to the fence or worst still the house  :rotfl:

I need to clear stuff from under the stairs for the electrician and clear a cupboard so he can reach dish washer plug socket just in case, so that's going to clutter the dining room even more but I'm currently sat with a cuppa hoping it will miraculously do itself :p

Please let me know if it is any good as I've been thinking about getting one. I used to have a scary gas canister one which I was always a bit nervous of using, though it was fab for getting a reluctant bbq going:eek::eek:. Mind you it was the best thing ever for getting my then-teenage kids to help with the gardening:rotfl::rotfl:I've found a liberal application of table salt & vinegar (in areas where you don't want to grow anything) quite good for keeping weeds away if you want to avoid weedkiller - I used to find the weeds came back quite quickly after burning so not convinced it did anything other than frazzle the tops.

I'll let you know how it goes Caronc it was a little more expensive than the gas ones but not a lot and I decided I wouldn't have to buy canisters, also as you said not so scary and I'm not sure my nephews would let be have one of those :D I have a record of being accident prone :o. Unfortunately I think the worst weeds / brambles are too close to the back fence to risk

I have heard that white vinegar is good as a weed killer, maybe not with my sea salt :rotfl:

It says it will light bbqs :T

I thought it was pretty standard to have a control panel that links all the appliances. Mine has a separate switch for the dishwasher, cooker, fridge etc etc so it easy to switch them off If needed.
