Lunch finished up as cheese on toast + piccalilli, I'm getting low on that so yet another not often used item to add to my must buy soon list

Did more than spot of gardening, sun came out warm, goose grass pulled up, pots at the front watered, planted a couple of the "giant lilies" I bought, always fancied the very tall ones, fingers crossed.
    Back aching, co-codamol duly taken:)

Stew in the oven heating through, all that remains is bung dumplings in & scoff

Slightly miffed, I use Firefox as browser for some sited, but a recent update c0cked everything up everywhere & ad blocks not working. I was amazed at just how unwatchable some sites are without an ad blocker
I decided instead to nail a shortlist of "next house I'd like" in order to think about arranging viewings. So hard. How do you decide between "a really really nice looking place, that's got most of what I want, but in the wrong road" -v- "nice looking place but doesn't meet the minimum criteria, but is in the right area"? I think I'll end up binning all the "nice looking places" - and settle for "tatty/grubby, but it's in the right area and has a garage" :)

Shortlist is down to about 30, spread over 20+ miles.

    Or should I change counties?

Have you sold then PN? Or on a promise?:D
County change along coast would be OK I guess, only trouble with a new location is you are not aware of underlying problems that all locals know about but with t'internet these days a search should show any real hot spots, either crime, traffic, water etc

PS Wednesday, just spotted, spud & beans, easy but fit for the Gods, grated cheese sprinkles?

PN I ended up with the location I wanted and the house which needed work done, having said that I liked the bare bones of the house so knew what I was working with. I was staying in the same town and only moved just over a mile I wanted to move from a flat into a house. The fact the house need work meant a three bedroom was in my price range if I didn't mind living in it and saving to get the work done. I had savings to do the heating and double glazing within a few months and the rest waited as I saved. Does this mean you have a buyer?

Wednesday are the quorn 'fish' fillets in the freezer or fridge section?

Decided it's not gardening weather as a bit nippy and my hands still aren't great, so indoors pottering as well as frightening the cat by bringing his basket in ready for the vet on Tuesday, I'm hoping if I leave it in view he wouldn't be so stressed by Tuesday and I wouldn't need so many plasters

I made some black bean burgers for lunch, not sure about this recipe may tweak next time, anyone got a decent recipe? I made some pineapple salsa and forgot how hot the small chilli I grew last year were  served in a small wrap.

Not sure about dinner yet, nothing taken out of the freezer so could be another bean burger rather than freezing it or I have some LO new potatoes I could make chips in the airfryer and have egg and chips. I'll see where the mood takes me, I may cook as I have veg to use up

Brambling - it was in the freezer section. I had the salt and vinegar flavour, it was very nice.:)

    Good evening everyone,
Wednesday I don't think that's weird at all in the late 80s my Mum used to make curried beans to have with a baked spud adding curry powder, onion, apple and raisins to the beans. We all loved them:).
Brambling like you I decided it was too cold to garden today, cold sore hands are just not funny!
PN - hope your house hunting means you have a sale in the pipeline.

Having decided not to garden I was wondering what else to do when my phone went. It was my friends with the pooches wondering if it was okay to pop by. It certainly was and we had a good natter over a cuppa and I got lots of poochy cuddles.:)
The belly pork is marinating in a mix of lemon, garlic, oregano and chilli flakes it just needs popping in the oven with the spud & corn cob I'm having with it. I'll nuke some green beans too.

I need to think about meals tomorrow as I'll be down at my Dad's house for a good chunk of the day as a local furniture recycling project is collecting the remaining furniture. I'll need to take a packed lunch and must remember some tea bags (and my book;))!

Thanks Wednesday I'll look out for them. I think your curried beans sound nice :)

I decided to freeze the LO burgers and cook tonight, work is really busy so I wanted to add a few more HM meals in the freezer for when I work late. Dinner therefore was a HM tomato and vegetable pasta sauce with gnocchi and white beans I sprinkled over it a selection of cheeses (using up odds and ends in the fridge) and baked in the oven. I'll freeze a couple of portions as well and one left for Tuesday lunch. I stewed some apple and raisins for dessert not quite apple crumble

Sounds sensible Brambling, I used always like to have a stash of HM meals in the freezer if I knew I was going to be home late from work, makes life so much easier.

Must be cold, the heating clicked on this morning, deceptive with a nice sunny sky outside

Yesterday's beef stew was gorgeous, I know the meat was expensive but it certainly came though in the taste, so rich & meaty. Now I'll have to buy more, and the venison talk prompted me to look out for it, on my next order, as other posters, it's free range culled deer, possibly Bambi's aunt;)

Woke to fresh baked bread, overnight in the Panny
    Breakfast porridge as per usual
Lunch, def a sarnie of some sort using the new loaf
Dinner, planned is the LO stew + dumplings, only needs heating through
I don't know if this is weird but I added some curry powder, sliced onions and a chopped up apple to the baked beans and put it on top of the jacket spud.:o:D
Not strange at all but I'd never thought of adding apple to them. One to tuck away & try in the future

I was just saying on the Weightwatchers thread that I have noticed that I get very hungry between 11 am and 3 pm. I keep noticing I am hungry when I post on Cooking for one and looking over at the clock as well. It's always the same time span.

I'm going to switch my dinner and lunch around and eat a main meal in the afternoon and a smaller meal at night.:A

So far today I have had two small meals, some rice cakes with avocado when I woke up and just now a protein smoothie.

I'm going to make a tomato, garlic and basil soup and also have a toasted pitta bread with chickpeas, houmous, olives and salad for my main meal around 2 pm.

Then just a smaller tofu and veg stir fry bowl around 6 or 7 tonight.

So did my Mum! :D That is where I got the idea from.

    Playing catch-up ....

Thursday: An online order of ingredients arrived (dried pear/ wild rice/ rice vinegar/ chermoula paste/ lemon pepper). Ready to crack open a few Middle Eastern cookbooks. :j

Made another carrot and beetroot salad (orange/ dried apricots/ aronia berries/ hazelnuts/ spices). Eaten with a YS hot smoked salmon fillet and jumbo prawns from the freezer.

Friday: Wasted a couple of hours on a blue cheese and green veg soup (broccoli/ leek/ celery/ garlic) with the 15p YS head of broccoli. Unmitigated disaster: reminded me why I use frozen broccoli for soup.

Saturday: Ploughing my way through leftovers, no cooking or meal prep.

Food waste: Couple of mini bananas. Half a jar curry sauce. Most of the green sludge soup. :(
